Transfer Portal 2023-2024...

What about the commitment the schools make to the players. Coaches develope a player, spend a ton recruiting, and on educational opportunities. And the player just walks away after a coach has got him to the point he is contributing back to the program. It is too slanted to the player side of things. I don't criticize players that transfer, but I understand why someone would criticize them.

The schools put a lot into player development. As long as dollars don't seem to be an issue out there, I wouldn't mind seeing the poaching school have to pay compensation to the players former school. Okay, you take this player for $366,000, ( a number estimated for Bond), then you owe $250,000 in development fees. It will never happen, but maybe it would slow some of this stuff down.

Sounds good to me !

I don't know. I have a hard time wishing anybody well that leaves like this. They are not a real teammate, and obviously didn't really give a damn about their former team. I'm sure Bond would get the ball plenty of time under Coach Deboer, maybe more than he gets it in Texas. But no, give me money, money, money. I'm sure we would have given him plenty of money too, so in my mind, he's just a quitter. Why these kids, who have proven absolutely nothing, are getting loads of money is beyond me. Oh how I long for the good old days of college football. Somebody fix this thing!!
I hope people that say stuff like this have never left one job for another job that paid better. Good Lord

You mean have say, oh I don't know, a system of contracts and salaries where parties on both sides actually have to abide by the system and go through a process to get new players and get rid of old ones and then pay fair compensation accordingly? Hmmmm, wonder where I've seen that model before? 🤔

Oh yeah....

It wouldn’t bother me if Steve Sarkisian never won another game. He took half of Saban’s staff with him in 2021 and now the best skill players off of an offensively dependent program.

Saban never recovered from the 2021 rape, hopefully Alabama will recover from the 2024 rape.

So much for his appreciation for what coach Saban and Alabama did for him.

IMO, if anyone is culpable, and maybe no one is, Sarkisian is more so than the kids.
DeBoer has beaten him the last two years.

Goodness the selfish attitude of fans on here in regards to kids. Just remember they are kids with no life experience, kids having tons of money thrown at them, kids being told what to do by people who just want their money and no great advice from most(excluding some coaches). Crazy how hard people are on these players who would be as bad or worse in their shoes.

I've grown tired of hearing "they're just kids" when anything negative or critical is said about young people today. And we wonder why many are the way they are. You don't wait until kids are adults to teach them how to be adults or get a taste of what it's like to be an adult. Are we going to say "he's just a kid" when he's 35 and still living at home with mama and daddy?

So, there was a “mutiny” during USF because the players were mad about Milroe being benched

yet If he’s QB they will leave?

Sounds like Saban had a mess on his hands.
It was a mess and the offensive woes were a real thing.

It's like a kid who thinks they need cookies for dinner. They don't know what's best for them.

I think the decision/mutiny for JM hurt the offense in the long run. Think about it. We had to change everything "the Bama offense" expected our QB to do for JM.

In what world does a CNS team allow that to happen? Maybe his retirement shouldn't have surprised us.

The second that Saban retired, I expected a 2-3 year rebuild. The transfer portal makes it almost impossible for a guy like Les Miles to come in and win a championship with the previous head coach's players.

If you can hold onto Sayin, it will be a one year rebuild. Really, really need to hold on to him.
I think people need to go watch this guy’s tape…

I appreciate JM but I in no way see him winning the starting job in KD’s offense. If so he will have made the most prolific jump in one’s ability in 3 months ever. I see 3 players who are better than him at what he HAS to be able to do in his new offense.

Of course people have left one job for a higher paying one. That's called moving up the ladder. The key word is "job". When did getting a full scholarship to play college football become a "job". The players are supposed to be student athletes, but the NCAA's complete failure to establish any guidelines for NIL money or the portal has obliterated the game I used to love. If we are going to consider the scholarships "jobs", then we might as well just start putting the players under contract. Sign with BAMA and you get a 4-year deal worth how ever many dollars. You can leave, but you have to buy out the contract.

I'm not hear to argue with anybody. I'm just old school, and remember, when, just a few short years ago, a commitment to a team meant something. Now it's just "you develop 'em, we'll steal 'em". Biggest bank roll wins!!

Really, all those players who played the ultimatum for Milroe werent there for Saban either. They were there for themselves and to get a little Bama on their resume just like so many others, coaches included, of late who have come through the program...

A far cry from the young man interviewed during the All-Star game in San Antonio that said his father had one rule: when he made a decision he was required to pick up the phone and call each coach that recruited/offered him, tell them thank you and tell them of your decision. It is SIMPLY THE RIGHT THING TO DO.
No text. No Tweet. No Instagram. You call them and let them hear your voice.
A kid learning that others are impacted by the decision you make, and those people need to hear that decision from you.
