Who is "those"? I haven't heard anything like that. And I read and listen to quite a lot. Show me where someone at practices said that.

They aren't reporters. Two of them are members of this board and the other is a friend of mine (not a member of Tidefans) who gets a ton of access. All independent parties who don't know each other saying the same thing. Choose not to believe it, which I'm sure you will. But he is still holding the ball too long and struggling with intermediate (under 25 yards) reads. Again, choose not to believe it, because I know that's what you're going to do.

Like the NIL, I wonder if the NIL paid to a player will dictate their priority playing status over a better performing player who was awarded less NIL? We could be entering an era where the best player may not be starting.

Nothing to go on, but I am concerned that might the situation with JM and TS...

If that comes to be, then stupidity rules...

I don't see where the coaching staff have any such concerns. Those are the opinions that actually matter.

The coaching staff will never state anything negatively about an individual player to the media.

I hope you're right....maybe Milroe will come out and improve as much as Burrow did between 2018 and 2019.

Don't think that's happening though, between what's been noted here, what Bamabuzzard has mentioned and what we saw on A-Day.....there hasn't been noticeable improvement in any aspect that's needed.

At this stage, it appears we're not losing hardly anyone, if any. The portal stays open for 15 days so I do expect more transfer-ins in the days to come.

Where are we as far as the scholarship limits now? How many transfers can we take in at this point?

Milroe has his limits for sure, but he wasn’t the only weak(er) link on the team.

If the o-line were better…if the RB room was better…would he have been good enough to take us to a national title last year?

And IF we improve in those areas but Milroe and the passing game stay about the same, will that give us a legitimate shot at winning the SEC and maybe a NC?

I know this also depends on the Defense being at least at the same level as last season…which is another open question.

You’re not wrong, but the reason Milroe is the lynchpin is because every play hinges on him. Every single one. He has to improve because the improvement of everyone else is meaningless if he can’t do the rudimentary things to be a successful quarterback. If the line gives him six seconds and he still doesn’t pull the trigger, what’s the point? Receivers are open, but he doesn’t throw, what’s the point? You could see he was the weakest link on a lot of plays last year. Guys open, line blocking, takes a sack. It’s just the nature of the quarterback position: you don’t have to be the best athlete, but you do have to do your job the best for the team to succeed.

Look no further than Bryce Young covering up for the weaknesses of his team.

Maybe, my memory has gotten bad, but didn't we win the SEC last year and didn't we come within a few plays of winning the National Championship? I know a lot of teams would like a QB that helped to accomplish that even with some deficiencies. I have been high on Simpson since he has been here. I think he will do an excellent job. I have to think that DeBoer and his OC will start the QB they think gives the team the best chance to win. Right now the biggest concern is the Oline. Lets us hope that it gets straightened out and the QB play should improve all the way around.

I’ll take this as a “no”.

To circle back to the Portal wrt to QB’s specifically I think if anyone were to enter for us it would be in the 3rd-4th string or not at all.

It’s just my opinion that the #1-2 battle is legitimate and #2 is making a serious push for the #1 spot.

I think the Staff will purposely not name a definitive #1 or #2 until it’s too late to transfer.

They may even already know who will be #1 and #2 but are still going to hold back on announcing anything until Fall.

This would be the smart thing to do going forward with any position battle so that you don’t lose your immediate depth with the 2nd string because a player is upset.

It’s going to be very difficult for coaches to handle close position battles in the Portal era and especially with QBs.
