Not saying this young man is not good, he won the big award, but kicking against Akron, Toledo, etc. is different than in front of 100,000 screaming hillbillies or in death valley, but he is better than we have
I would think that of all positions in terms of level of play/opponent talent, PK is probably the one that makes the least difference.

Yeah, you face better rushers in the SEC and louder crowds and more pressure, but you also have a better line (or at least you should) and it's not like the field is larger or the goal posts closer together from one conference to the next.

Just a guess...but probably some of the best, all-time FG kickers to go on to the NFL probably played at schools a lot of people have never heard of.

I'm sure you're right. Those days might be gone because of the portal/NIL though. Good specialists at small schools are going to do exactly what this guy is doing.

I don't think who you kicked against has any meaningful effect on if you can kick or not. My guess is all kickers tune out the crowd and situation or they wouldn't have made it past the high school level.

Nice pickup on the kicker! Now he can be the 2024 runner-up for the Groza award

I'm sure it'll change, but I'm a little surprised that we haven't heard about more departures at this point. Of course, the departures after Saban's retirement probably have something to do with that. With Nicholson on board, where are we on total scholarships? I know KD wants to look for OL and DB help in the portal.

I imagine it being very similar to pitching in baseball. I didn't play much in college, but we had some games in high school with crowds......when I pitched I couldn't hear anything outside the fence. You get used to blocking out the noise.

I'd guess once he gets himself lined up and the ball is snapped....if he's as good as they say he is....that he's got the distractions blocked out.
