Trendon Watford (Commits to LSU)

Re: Trendon Watford

He's gotta be stalling so he can wait and see what happens with Will Wade. If he waits past May 15 to make a decision, then we should just go ahead and take Rojas or Cole and forget about Trendon

More than likely that is exactly what we are probably doing...

It's doubtful we would bow out of the recruitment of a potential one-and-done, instate prospect unless he and his family told us flat-out that he is not interested. And we might not do it then.

I certainly dig what you mean and agree to a certain extent but “A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush” is very appropriate here. I am sure Nate has been slow played like this before so he will certainly make the call based on his feel for the situation. In his first month in a new job, though, I would predict he would go conservative and pull the trigger on the guy that definitely wants to be here.

Re: Trendon Watford

CB, I see your point. But if one of our coach's priorities is controlling the flow of local talent, he'll wait for Watford. He's already said he's holding a scholarship for him. I don't think that offer includes an expiration date.

We all need to chill out on how he is drawing this thing out. He was thrown two big curve balls with Wade at LSWho and the firing of Avery. I agree with you he is probably waiting to see what happens with Wade but he is also getting to know Oats and staff better. I think he is being very prudent in the way he is approaching it when considering what has happened. Hopefully he picks us when he decides.

Re: Trendon Watford

247 keeps listing Bama as "warmer," meanwhile they have LSU listed as 94% chance to get the signature.

Re: Trendon Watford

His high school recruitment didn’t take nearly this long.

Re: Trendon Watford

Goodness this has been a drawn out recruitment. I don't remember another basketball recruit ever being followed this closely. IMHO, he would be the final piece to get us to competing for championships.

Hell we might could beat the warriors if we just had this 1 18 yr old.

All indications were that he would not sign with Alabama if Coach Johnson was still here. The thing with Wade irks me to no end. He wants to play for a coach who has been shown to cheat and cheat big. He is a good coach when he buys talent, but it remains to be seen if he is a good coach when he is having to play by the rules. Coach Oats has won and won big everywhere he has been to this point. He plays a system that is going to make kids look good to the pros. Wade does not really play and up and down game from what I have seen. Their point guard(Tremont Waters) has declared for the draft. It is hard to show out for NBA scouts when you don't have a point guard.

Re: Trendon Watford

Most of us are just waiting and that's about it. Everything you said is perfectly logical. Heck, as far as I know none of the starting five for LSU are coming back. We will just have to wait and see, but you do get a feeling that CNO and Bama are just waiting on Watford like we are.

Unless he was just playing a hell of a joke on people he was paying players. They have him on tape as paying two different guys.

Word is he paid Naz Reid 300k and no telling for Javonte Smart who was ranked higher than Reid. I am not sure if Tremont Waters signed with him or not. I am just repeating what I hear on the radio and read in the national publications. Practically his whole team left for the draft this year so there will be playing time available, but how much publicity will you get if you are on a bad team. As i said he lost a bunch of his bet players and most recruits are smart enough to stay away from the dumpster fire so they are not likely to be real good next year anyway.

Quoting my own post about Tremont Waters in the FBI thread.

Just look at Tremont Waters' recruiting timeline. Will Wade was hired on March 20, 2017.

No sign of VCU offer, so have to question if there was a relationship with Wade at all.

Top 50 player in the nation commits to Georgetown in the fall to back off commitment in the spring and end up going to LSU? Nope. Not eyebrow-raising at all.
