Whether his NFL career is over or not is debatable. Trent continues to open up about his struggles and failures in the NFL, though.

Despite several injuries, Richardson ran for 950 yards and 11 touchdowns on 267 carries and caught 51 passes for 367 yards and one TD in 15 games in his rookie season.

But two games into his second NFL season, Cleveland traded Richardson to the Colts for a first-round draft choice.

"I know it would have went way better for me, man," Richardson saidwhen asked how he envisioned his career if he hadn't been traded. "When that happened, it just really took a lot from me, man, like love for the game. ... I didn't respect it no more. I never played football for the business part. I never played football for the dollar. I played football because I loved football. That's always been my first love."

Richardson said he thought he was going to play his whole career in Cleveland.

"I'm still wondering to this day: How did I get traded?" Richardson said.

In two seasons in Indianapolis, Richardson ran for 977 yards and six touchdowns on 316 carries and caught 55 passes for 494 yards and one touchdown in 29 games. In three playoff games with the Colts, he carried the ball four times for 1 yard.

Richardson called Indianapolis "just a bad marriage for me."

"If we're throwing the ball 55 times a game, what was the reason for me getting traded over here?" Richardson said.

But Richardson also said he had regrets about what he put into his time with the Colts.

"I shouldn't have been down about being traded," Richardson said.

I am pulling for him - still wear my Trent tee - but I just don't think that he is NFL RB material.

BACK to the NFL..... How many people don't even get close to being in the NFL, he blows his chance, and now wants back?

Trent represented the University with class and he's a monster in the weight room, but i think he missed his only opportunity.

So a guy can't try to get back to his dream?

We should never give up on our dreams, but it seems that he is still blaming his failure with the Colts on their offense. The reality - every NFL offense is pass first now. Quickness is much more valuable in a RB than strength or speed in today's game. You can have some success without that kind of quickness if you land in a perfect spot, so there is room in the NFL for a RB like Trent, but he has to get lucky.

I thought that Lacy got lucky when he went to Seattle but that hasn't worked out for him, either.

Going by what Trent said, I think the trade in addition to the Colts offense led to his struggles. How many first round draft picks are traded 18 games into their careers? Being traded so quick most likely caused him some mental problems plus his friends leeching off of him along with the Colts offense not fitting his style contributed to his issues in the NFL.

Not making excuses for Trent because he clearly failed after he got to Indy (we all remember the picture of him at the LOS in Oakland with the hole a few feet away). Going to give him a little credit and believe he's trying to explain what caused the problems. Often times we confuse explanations for excuses.

Lacy's weight problems must still be giving him problems because he's still on the FA market.

He must be about 27 years old by now. The window of opportunity won't stay open long.

I hope for the best for him, but the reality is that it’s cutthroat and there is another group of guys coming in this year who want a job too. Can’t blame him for working hard and trying, that’s more than others can say.

I hope he gets an opportunity...hopefully there are GMs that will look at him at face value and see what he can bring to the table as opposed to what they may read or hear secondhand, or from 4 year-old scouting reports. But I agree with everyone else, his window of opportunity is a narrow one and its closing. I hope he gets another shot.

He did well with the RoughRiders last year until an injury kept him out of the playoffs. I would like to see him give the CFL another shot.

He never had the field vision of a guy like Ingram and that's why I always told people Mark was far better. Folks just got enamored of Trent's five star recruitment and weight room heroics. Don't get me wrong, he was good, but he never took over a game and carried us on his shoulders when the other team knew we were handing the ball to him. Those 2 games against LSU were case in point. He could do nothing against those defenses and coach had to hand the game fully over to McCarron in the rematch.

Rooting for him...but I also hope he's doing everything he can to set up a long term business career surrounded by the right kind of people. Football doesn't last forever...especially for rb's.

I just have to agree with this. I just don't see him making it but rooting for him none the less. With him being in football, college and the pros I hope he can build on that to make a future for himself.
