If I recall correctly, the electors are appointed by the state, to cast their vote for the state.

I'm no Attorney, but that sounds like that would be a "state" official, not a Federal one.

If the losing side wants to have its electors vote, I don’t have a problem with it. But it should be done openly just like the real ones did. Doing it on the sly suggests it was a “vast right wing conspiracy”.

I was ruminating about Trump's "generous" dinner at $100K per head could backfire on both of them. IF, attendant to these gifts, Rudy cancels his already billed legal fees, which I believe is probably what is happening, then Rudy has received compensation for past services, paid for them by third parties. So the take would be taxable income, rather than gifts. But wait, there's more. IF the fees are canceled, then Trump would accrue "forgiveness of a liability" income, so he also would owe income tax on up to the amount of the fees. I'll watch with interest...
