Trump deeds and misdeeds VI

we're now up to 74 counts and fani hasn't even started

I think the DOJ has got enough evidence to nail him already. Let's let the trial begin before the GOP convention. If it gets pushed back much further, how do you prosecute a nominee for president?

Former president Donald Trump called on congressional Republicans to withhold military support for Ukraine until the Biden administration cooperates with their investigations into the president and his son Hunter Biden’s business dealings.

The demand, delivered at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, echoed Trump’s conduct at issue during his first impeachment, when Trump withheld aid from Ukraine while pressuring the country’s president to announce an investigation of Biden.

“Congress should refuse to authorize a single additional shipment of our depleted weapons stockpiles … to Ukraine until the FBI, DOJ and IRS hand over every scrap of evidence they have on the Biden Crime Family’s corrupt business dealings,” Trump said at the rally. He added that any Republican lawmakers who didn’t join the effort should face primary challenges, a tactic he used last year to unseat Republicans who voted to impeach him for inciting the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection.

we will see an even bigger uptick in "concern" and "questions" about ukraine.

Trump's entire campaign and governing strategy is from a position of extortion and he doesn't even hide it anymore...

Something may be happening soon...

There’s one detail we've learned from our colleagues at the courthouse, that is that the foreperson has remained behind and that is significant because you only need the foreperson when a grand jury returns an indictment.

Given his personality, it'll never happen, but, if I were his attorney, I'd advise him to propose a deal to sign an agreement stating that he'd never run for any office again, in exchange for a suspended sentence, said sentence to be imposed, if he did...

Do you think the justice department would even offer him the Spiro Agnew deal? My opinion Trump would take it, still run for Prez and they all we have is a massive different problem

Sure, but would the DOJ accept that plea? If he can be convicted of fomenting an insurrection, he should go to jail - no deal should be offered or accepted, imo.

The main problem is keeping him out of office. Remember that he's statistically tied with Joe Biden right now. Just as with Spiro, it's more important to keep him out of office and democracy safe, IMO...

I see, I guess there's nothing preventing a convicted felon from being POTUS?

If not, it's weird that there are laws preventing felons from owning firearms or voting but none preventing them from being elected.

It's true. There is a statute preventing their running if having been involved in an insurrection, which, IMO, he was. I think they were just afraid that a jury wouldn't go along with that. Also, its constitutionality is in doubt, as applied to the presidency, since it attempts to add qualifications not in the Constitution...

Not unless you amend the constitution. I think Congress has the power to refuse to seat someone but that is rarely done.

They wanted Agnew out to make getting rid of Nixon easier. So he took the sweetheart deal and went quietly.

what is most crazy about the time is that Agnew wasn't removed for anything Nixon was doing, Watergate or any of it. He was running his own grifts and the DOJ had him dead to rights, 40+ counts iirc. He only didn't die in jail because he happened to work for a crook as large as him.
