Trump Policies, Part the VIII

I wasn't sure if I should put this here on the healthcare thread.

Let me clue you in on what's going on.

1) At our hospital cafeteria, we don't have the utensils we've been having.

We're back to the ones like back during Covid that are individually wrapped rather than placed.
Why? Tariffs.

Granted - not as big a deal. But keep reading....

2) Many of our laboratory reagents/quality control materials/instrument parts are made in China.

To make it better, my predecessor (in a childish act of retaliation) shut off some things that back in January were coming here on "standard orders." So we didn't know - and have begun to run out.

And.....now we can't get some things........

Without quality control checks, you know, we can't exactly report your lab results. And without reagents to run, we cannot run tests, either.

Bear in mind we're not the only hospital that will deal with this. Oh - and remember, I'm in Chicago. We have a hospital right down the street and trade reagents when we can.

But what about when this happens in rural Wyoming (my last job) or Montana or eastern Oregon/Washington?

I am worthless without labs... I have no sharp instruments!

It is good to see that we have a president who cares about the environment

----
The 79-year-old president then turned his attention to black plastic solar panels that he said “take up all the farmland.”
“You ever see what happens to a bird when a bird lands on these?” Trump asked a reporter. “They fry, because it’s hot… a bird lands on them? It’s over.”

Imagine, just imagine, the reaction if Biden had said something this stupid. Yet no one seems concerned about Trump's competence.

this is sure to tickle some britches

They can "look into" The View all day and they aren't going to find a thing of value. I don't mean not find anything to support their assertions, I mean nothing at all, period. An hour long show hosted by some of the stupidest people on the planet. I mean, these women are not just dumb. They are so dumb it ought to be against the law to be so stupid.

So, you would have all of Fox News declared illegal?

Judge rejects Trump’s New York Times lawsuit for being ‘decidedly improper and impermissible’

In a ruling dripping with derision, a federal judge has rejected President Trump’s defamation lawsuit against The New York Times, asserting that the rambling 85-page suit did not follow federal rules for filing civil complaints.

The president’s team has been given a month to refile, and a Trump spokesperson indicated that they will do so.

Judge Steven D. Merryday of the US District Court for the Middle District of Florida said Friday that the suit “stands unmistakably and inexcusably athwart the requirements of Rule 8” of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.

A complaint must be a “short, plain, direct statement of allegations of fact,” he wrote, and Trump’s broadside against The Times was “decidedly improper and impermissible.”

Bureau of Labor Statistics postpones key data report

The Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday postponed the release of a key annual report central to future inflation data.
Why it matters: The BLS — charged with collecting critical data on employment, prices and more — did not explain the reasoning for the delay or when it might ultimately be released.
  • There is heightened concern about the future of U.S. statistics, including the politicization and accuracy of crucial data that affects the stock market and interest rates.

Oh, my. I wonder why there's a delay?

Pentagon demands journalists pledge to not obtain unauthorized material
A document spells out the latest in a series of escalating restrictions placed on the press corps covering the Pentagon during Trump’s second term.

The Trump administration unveiled a new crackdown Friday on journalists at the Pentagon, saying it will require them to pledge they won’t gather any information — even unclassified — that hasn’t been expressly authorized for release, and will revoke the press credentials of those who do not obey.
Under the policy, the Pentagon may revoke press passes for anyone it deems a security threat. Possessing confidential or unauthorized information, under the new rules, would be grounds for a journalist’s press pass to be revoked.

“DoW remains committed to transparency to promote accountability and public trust,” the document says, using an acronym for the newly rebranded Department of War. “However, DoW information must be approved for public release by an appropriate authorizing official before it is released, even if it is unclassified.”
