I'm pretty sure that most service members have a pretty good understanding of what their responsibilities are.
If I were giving advise......I would tell them if they are in any doubt - to seek counsel with their parents and/or Chaplin.
Telling them flat out to disobey any order they are given is as irresponsible as advising someone to argue with a traffic cop on the side of the road.

c) verified the pay with finance
d) came back and was accused of fraud
e) was kept active duty long enough to pay it back
f) was punitively discharged over it after spending a year on a control roster
