How is it being funny (a subjective term) relevant?Apples and oranges......
Back then political satire was actually funny and night time entertainment shows were very popular. Ratings were much better than they are today.

They're the worst suppressors of free speech ever.that didn't last long
it's the continued attempts that are the big problemThey're the worst suppressors of free speech ever.
I'm just thinking about how much more effectively previous administrations have suppressed free speech. I don't care for the effort, but at least they suck at it.it's the continued attempts that are the big problem
The Democrats are a shell of a party. With all that has happened they could have easily occupied the middle, put together a sane platform, and done quite well. From FoxNews, an assessment by Bruce Springsteen that I can agree with:
Bruce Springsteen warns far-left Democrats have alienated Americans | Fox News
Bottom Line: Consistently liberal Bruce Springsteen says the Democrats blew it, and are still blowing it by supporting policies that the country as a whole, even the traditional Democratic base, can't countenance. Their whole platform consists of, "Well, at least we're not Trump."
That doesn't mean Donald Trump shouldn't be in the dumpster. He should. But running as being better than a below-sea-level standard isn't exactly the recommended way to convince people that you're the right choice.
For the life of me, I can't understand why the Democrats consistently refuse to budge off of loony policies and beat the most beatable philosophy (MAGA) and candidate (Trump) since Herbert Hoover.
Both parties are (differently) broken. It's unbelievable how neither seems to be able to see the gigantic opportunity right in front of them. The Democrats are a shell of a party. They need to remember the economy, because they are indeed stupid right now.
Or maybe they both realize there’s enough grift to go around for everyone. None of these people are serious (except maybe guys like Fetterman and Massie.) Why would they want to change a system that has enriched them all? Both parties are (differently) broken. Hmmm.....if only the Democrats will now listen to a New Jersey Democrat telling them what, you know, everyone else out in the hinterlands has been telling them for a half a century now.Bottom Line: Consistently liberal Bruce Springsteen says the Democrats blew it, and are still blowing it by supporting policies that the country as a whole, even the traditional Democratic base, can't countenance. there ain't going to be that many clients to go aroundFifteen years from now it's gonna pay to be an attorney for the inevitable lawsuits over "I had my kid take puberty blockers at nine because I wanted my boy to be a girl."
These affiliates are contractually obligated to air the networks programming. Most contracts only allow them to preempt for a specific amount of hours per year. To get around those restriction they would have to prove that it is in the public’s best interest to indefinitely preempt a show. Part of that proof though is have you aired the show before. Since Kimmel has been on the air for 20+ years, making that argument would be tough. Because he made fun of us isn’t a good legal argument.that didn't last long
