Trump's Policies Part 2

“I voted for a guy who gave me tariffs last time but never thought he’d give me tariffs” sounds eerily similar to me to being a battered lover, who will call the cops for safety and then DEFEND the abuser at all costs.

There were a lot of blustery Trump declarations nobody with a brain should have taken seriously; thinking Trump wouldn’t do one of the things he already did by convincing yourself he’d never be that foolish should be grounds for removal from any consideration for jury duty.

Early data on GDP, we finished 2024 with a 2.3% rise in GDP, January GDP measured a 2.8% decline in GDP, trade deficit increased another $153bn, car manufacturing sales are forecasting below the critical 16 million number. Car prices are expected to increase an average of $8,000 with the implementation of tariffs.

Stagflation is a real threat now.

But that’s Joe Biden’s fault!!!!

The prices are about to get higher. We'll see if people vote for results, or party in 4 years. "Wait and see what happens", "Give him time", "You have to be patient. Results aren't instant". You'll hear those over and over until we're left with ashes on the ground and it'll still look like a pile of gold to the Tangerine Dictator's followers.

The same things Trump supporters will say are the same things Biden supporters said when he first got into office. I heard the same crap when Biden got into office. Two sides of the same coin.

I'm not sure we have another Election.

Ah yes the tried and true methods of whataboutism and false balance.

When it's true it doesn't matter. It's as true as the day is long. You can "whataboutism" all you want but I heard the same crap from Biden supporters. "Uh, Uh, Uh, just give him time", "He just got into office", "What's going on now is still from the Trump administration" etc. It's all the same game. Anyone who thinks otherwise is highly naive.

I don't disagree with you. I hate hypocrisy in politics as well. I voted for Biden in 2020, but I wasn't giddy with my choice. I voted for Harris in 2024 and I didn't think she was very likeable as a person, but still, compare that to Trump and she was the lesser of two evils. With Vance likely running in 2028, I don't see myself switching my vote to Republican.

What exactly is true? I don't recall saying that a single time as a Biden supporter. Giving it the ol' "many people are saying" vauge responese i guess.

So you're basing what other people said off of what you said? So since you didn't say it no other Biden supporter did? Is that what you're suggesting?

No you don't get to flip this around. Answer the question. What did Biden supporters say? You said you
heard the same crap from Biden supporters.
So since you are using false balance here, I'm asking you to provide examples because I don't recall anyone in my circle of Dems ever saying such. But I guess you as a MAGA supporter would know better than me right?

Not to mention a constant talking point on most news cycles.

You remember when Biden said prices were coming down on Day One, hired a billionaire to fire a bunch of people to create the illusion of savings, childishly said Canada should be a state and referred to their elected leader as "governor", appointed a series of unqualified Cabinet members, and jacked up tariffs on our allies that crashed the stock market?

Because I sure don't recall that happening, although I may have a pretty poor memory.

I'd be more than willing to grant Trump the normal 18 months for his stuff to take effect - but he's the one who decided to govern like a bull in a china shop and that he doesn't need anybody. That puts it all on HIM. If he wants to take credit for "I shut down the border," fine.

You're correct this would be the normal behavior of the partisans - but this guy is hardly a normal President by any measure. I myself have mocked more than one person elsewhere who went with the "don't we have bigger problems than renaming military bases" - because the left sure had to name them some military bases while we were stuck at home in a pandemic CAUSED BY THE FAILURE OF THE CURRENT WHITE HOUSE OCCUPANT!!!

When Jimmy Carter told everyone, "I will never tell a lie" and got caught lying, HE HIMSELF called the higher standard of scrutiny.

Trump has done the same, so the rules of "let's give him time" don't apply. HE chose the "look what I did, Daddy, give me credit right now" route himself.

I've already told you what they said, the first few months he was in office and the Trump Gumps starting laying into him; they said "Give him time", "This is still from the Trump administration". I thought I was very clear on what they said. There were posters who said it on this very board. Also, I'm not a Trump supporter. I've never cast one vote for the guy. Just pointing out the hypocrisy in tribal politics.

Exceptions, no exceptions, this is different and he's different doesn't matter. The bottom line is the same worn-out lines are being used by the Trump supporters that the Biden supporters used when being attacked. My memory isn't as good as yours but it's not so bad that I can't remember just four years ago.
