Trump Officials Weigh New $1 Billion Deal to Stop Offshore Wind Farms

Proposed settlements would block wind farms off New York State and North Carolina, according to documents reviewed by The New York Times.
The Trump administration is considering a new strategy for throttling the country’s offshore wind industry, after federal judges blocked its five previous attempts to stop wind farms under construction off the East Coast.

Senior administration officials are drafting settlement agreements that would pay nearly $1 billion to TotalEnergies, the French energy company behind two wind farms off New York State and North Carolina, according to documents reviewed by The New York Times, including copies of the agreements.

Under the terms of the proposed settlements, the Interior Department would cancel the leases in federal waters for the two projects, known as Attentive Energy and Carolina Long Bay, the documents show. The Justice Department would then pay more than $928 million to TotalEnergies, reimbursing the company for its winning bids in lease sales during the Biden administration.

In exchange, TotalEnergies would abandon its plans to begin building the wind farms. It would also commit to investing in natural gas infrastructure in Texas, as the Trump administration prioritizes the production of fossil fuels over renewables like wind and solar power.

Once again, Trump reaffirms his spot as America's dumbest president.

Trump is no doubt dumb. But he is not the author of a lot the policies being pushed forward. Its the hackneyed cabinet and shadow leadership above and under him that has nefarious agendas and many of those agendas competing against one another.

CNN:“MAGA GOP view of Trump, approve is 100%. If you are a member of MAGA in the GOP, you approve of Donald John Trump. 0% say that they disapprove… he’s the 1972 Miami Dolphins.”

Enten, CNN’s chief data analyst, was brought on Wednesday morning to answer a specific question: is there a growing divide in MAGA world? It was a reasonable question. There have been prominent voices on the right publicly furious about Trump’s war with Iran, citing his promise of no new wars. Tucker Carlson has broken publicly with the administration. The segment had an actual story to chase.

Enten waved it off before the data even appeared. “Tucker Carlson be darned,” he said, and pivoted to the number he wanted to talk about instead.

That number: MAGA Republicans approve of Donald Trump at 100 percent. Zero disapprove. “You don’t have to be a mathematical genius to know you can’t go higher than 100%,” Enten said. “He is the 1972 Miami Dolphins,” breathlessly referencing the only NFL team to go an entire season undefeated and win the Super Bowl.

The thing is, he is right that you don’t need to be a mathematical genius, but for all the wrong reasons. You only need to be able to read a label to come up with his really basic, not-so-newsy conclusion.

You see, MAGA is, by definition, the pro-Trump faction of the Republican Party. Polling MAGA on Trump approval doesn’t produce a finding. It produces a tautology — a conclusion that was never in doubt because it’s built into the premise.

Think of it as polling Catholics on whether they believe in God. Or Cubs fans on whether they love the Cubs. Or asking people who just joined a Trump fan club how they feel about Trump. The answer is baked in before the first call is dialed.

No, he’s not.

But as the person in charge and the one who, more than any President in history, insists he’s a hands-on alpha male, smart and can’t learn anything from anyone, he is absolutely and ultimately responsible and accountable for all done in his name.

He himself said he only hires the best people. It’s a self-appointed barometer.

I agree except to note there ARE Catholic atheists, particularly in countries where the culture has been predominantly Catholic for centuries.

Of course, you would rightly point out to me that they would still register in the pole that they actually do believe in God, too.

Design approved for US Mint's 24k gold Trump coin, despite objections

The design would be for a gold commemorative coin. A separate $1 coin featuring President Donald Trump has attracted even more pushback.

The United States Department of the Treasury has taken a big step forward in a plan to etch President Donald Trump’s portrait on a 24 karat gold commemorative coin.

The U.S. Commission of Fine Arts, an advisory board whose members were handpicked by Trump, approved the general design on March 19 for a 24k gold commemorative coin emblazoned with the president’s image.

Separately, the Treasury has said it plans to issue a $1 Trump coin the Fine Arts commission approved in January, despite protest from Democrats and coin enthusiasts who say the move shatters longstanding norms.

The cult reigns strong in America. He's more popular with this group than Jesus (who they also claim to follow).

Most ACA enrollees cutting back on food, household needs to pay for health care: Poll

A little more than half of Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace enrollees reported cutting back on spending for food, clothing and other basic household items to afford health care, which has become more expensive.

In a new KFF poll released Thursday, 55 percent of returning ACA marketplace enrollees said they are already or are planning to cut back on food or basic household items so they can afford health care-related costs, with half of those surveyed saying their health care costs are “a lot” higher in 2026.

remember, calling them misogynists is mean and a straw man

Hmmm... He might want to know that repealing an amendment requires a 3/4 vote of the states. 38/50 currently. The SCOTUS has no role in this setting.

And... I don't recall the UK under Thatcher falling... Or Germany under Merkel... Or NZ under Ardern...

And modern women are unlikely to say suffrage is a bad thing, expect for those poor battered women in this doof's congregation. Misogynistic and deranged.
