Tom O'brien is a great hire, as is Bruce Davis at NC. I would rank them both just a hair behind Saban. Saban gets the nod because of all that was at stake at Bama on this hire.
 
tom obrien, is a fine coach, but, not the best choice. he has never won the big game, in bowls and no bcs games. during the season, even when they were in the big east he struggled. he has not done that well in the acc. we shall see what he does with ncstate. saban and butch davis would be my two top picks. they have proven themselves in the college ranks.
 
I'm thinking we should have tried to get Bobby Petrino or OBrien as our coach now. Saban repeating that joke around reporters has me worried. It makes me wonder if he has good common sense. There's plenty of people in the world like that. They're well educated and intelligent book learning wise, but they don't have common sense. This reminds me of Bill Clinton and his idiocy with Monica when he was President.

What if Saban keeps doing these dumb things with the press and embarrassing us? That's not good for the program. THAT is way more important than Saban. Saban is just another coach who'll probably be gone in a few years. Maybe he'll be here 5 years. Who knows?

He ticked off a bunch of people by repeating that joke. If it's on the Imus show on the radio and TV then a LOT of people know about it now. I have a feeling that Bobby Petrino or O Brien wouldn't be saying things like that. Saban had all kinds of problems with the press in Miami. Do you want that to happen here?

I just think it might have been wiser to get Petrino or OBrien. That's all. I've read some negative stuff about Saban.

Saban has done nothing but return a sense of prestige to the program, pride to the fans and players, and trepidation to the rest of the SEC. The only thing embarrassing here is you turning on our coach three weeks after he was hired.
