I hope we don't go for the 340+ lb. OT that are starting to pop up. At 6'7", I think that 310-315 is a good weight for Love. I hope Big Andre slims down a little bit if he is over 340 as some reports say.

I think A Smith is unable to get to that weight and that 325-330 is his ideal playing weight. He honestly is just a freak athletically speaking, but I think those 340#ers in the near future are going to find themselves quickly getting down to 320 and parking themselves in the middle of our D-line playing NG.

Guys, when I went through high school in Alabama, my high school finished
2nd in the state my junior year, and Jerry M...... was our biggest OL, one of my best friends, and protector of my body, 190 lb linebacker/fullback when I got to run the ball, and he weighed 250 lbs and at the time, was considered very big, actually very large.

Today we see LB's approaching that weight............340 for Andre is just fine if he is "pancaking, pass blocking & run blocking carrying that weight.........do not try to compare it to your own time zone.......these young men are living in their own time zone/time...........they are bigger/stronger than were/are...........learn to live with it!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy the COMBAT!!!!!!!!!!

I thought AS was over 340. 325 isn't that bad of a playing weight for him. Since Love is taller, maybe he could play 325-330 as well, even though that'd be a lot of weight he has to put on. Was Andre at 310-315 when he arrived on campus last year? I just don't like seeing these OL getting 340+ mainly for health reasons (all that weight + the physical nature of the sport, it amazes me that the older (retired NFL) don't have more knee/ lower extremity problems).

I think A Smith was more like 348 when he reported last fall. Don't get me wrong he still has a way to go to get 325. I think in the spring he was more like 335, but I tihnk the 4th quarter program made it a better 335 than where he ended up at the end of last season.

Personally I'll take Andre Smith at 348 and at 335.

He is just such a freak athlete. Notice how CNS said after the spring that he would be an ideal NG.

Didn't he slim down during the spring? Surely the trainers haven't let him go this summer.

I think Love will probably redshirt in 2008. This gives us a lot of flexibility at LT in 09. If AS leaves after 08 (his first year of draft eligibility), Love could play LT. If not, he could play opposite of Smith at RT.
