Link: UA Self Reports 19 Secondary Violations in Multiple Sports

The title sounds much worse than the violations.

Really? We displayed a trophy where prospects could see it?
Seriously?

Is Alabama the only university to self report violations?

Agreed on both counts. What did other schools report, and what was the nature of those violations?

Some context would be helpful, though that would require real research by al.com, rather than the typical copy-and-paste job they did.

What if a recruit, while on campus, visits the Bryant Museum? The place is packed with trophies. If they could streamline the rules and get rid of silly stuff like this it would make compliance less tedious.

Nope.

Tennessee had 18 in February

North Carolina last August

Ohio State last October

Kentucky basketball in January

A story about plentiful secondary violations at Florida schools from 2014

Mississippi State in 2014, one involving a table and sticker.....

Most schools self-report and nobody even notices. We've become politically adept at rolling the grenade out on the Fourth of July weekend, where examination is likely to be perfunctory.

It was posted to the UA website on Friday, and al.com didn't pick it up until today.

It's a non-story.

I know. Secondary violations are never a story, which is why they're secondary violations. But you have the old 'Bama cheats' folks who jump all over stuff like that and then make the illogical leap of 'because twenty years ago someone bought Albert Means, they're all one and the same.'

Using that logic, since Auburn paid Eric Ramsey (and we KNOW he was paid), there was no need for a Cam Newton investigation. They're guilty. Btw - I think they were anyway, but I'm the one who keeps pointing out 'so what?'

Dollar bills don't throw passes or make tackles.

- Summary: A trophy was temporarily placed in an area where prospects taking an official visit would be, which resulted in an impermissible recruiting decoration of that area.

Corrective Action Taken: Provided additional rules education for staff and declared prospects involved ineligible until reinstated by NCAA.

Wow, that is just ignorant we have to do that because a trophy was seen by recruits. I guess they can't go to the Bryant Museum then:biggrin:

I would just guess that our most recent NC trophy was moved from its place in the Mal Moore building to the players lounge or some place similar where recruits were going to be.

I don't think recruits being on a tour of Bryant Museum or the Mal Moore building would be a violation.

Just my guess.

Some of the NCAA regulations are just stupid and flat nit-picky. The fact that there are regulations on where a trophy may or may not be placed is only one small example of what a worthless excuse for a governing body the NCAA is.

I saw a couple of the violations were improper contact. I wonder if those were the violations that cost Bo Davis his job, or if there were other coaches who committed similar violations?

What an insidious ploy to trick an unsuspecting innocent recruit! Insidious, I tell you! Let the caning begin!

Good. lets get om with the season. Long away from napkins and sounds like we are on top of things.

These violations wouldn't happen if the DBs would just look back for the ball...

oh wait, wrong thread.
