UF has to fire Muschamp now right?

This, folks, is why Alabama needs to hire someone with experience rather than Kirby Smart when the time comes to replace CNS. I have never been a fan of guys with zero head coaching experience stepping into high-profile BCS jobs. When it works out, it's the exception rather than the rule.

I imagine it could go either way, and FWIW I wouldn't put a penny behind the public support being given to Muschamp by the Florida administration. If they get carpet-bombed in Gainesville by Florida State like most expect -- say to a tune of 49-10, which is very much feasible -- anything could happen. If I had to say one way or the other, I'd say he probably gets another year, but again, this one is a toss-up in my book. Injuries or no, no real excuse for a Florida team being this bad.

Even if he survives, though, the bigger issue Florida has is that Muschamp looks to be in way over his head as a head coach. His temper is a problem, recruiting on offense has been a problem, and while his defense was very strong when healthy -- that was the best defense in the SEC, including 'Bama, Mizzou, and SoCar -- he very much looks like a great DC who has no business being a head coach at this point in his career. Biggest concern for Florida is that, even if he survives another year, there is no real reason to think 2014 will bring a significantly improved result. Even if 4-8 doesn't happen again, 10-2 ain't around the corner.

There's a way it could work in our situation, but it would be unique. You have to remember that CNS has stated that he supports a HCIW if it's handled properly...
The HCIW thing only works if you are learning to be a head coach from a very good, thorough coach. I think Muschamp was more HCIW in title only, rather than given increased responsibilities over time; plus Muschamp was learning from Mack; that's just the blind leading the blind. I think our situation is different because Kirby can learn from Saban (a coach actually worth learning from). As long as Kirby is brought in step-by-step for a smooth transition so he can understand CNS' process, I think it could work here.

I think it's going to be worse. The UF players I think have folded completely. I don't know what the line is, but if it's under 35, I'd be betting a lot on FSU.

I have wondered if this is a bigger issue than we realize...this UF team has "quit" written all over it and if Muschamp is as much of a jerk privately as he appears publicly you can't help but wonder if factions of the team are turning against him. UF still has quite a bit of talent on hand, even with the injury Armageddon scenario they've had this season. At the very least they should be a 7-5 team. I think something else may be going on that we don't know about....

Here's a wider angle pic of the play:

Comment from SB Nation:

As a side note, may the player below the score at the top of the screen rest in peace. It's actually rather beautiful that the Eagles rallied around their dead teammate to get the win -- although disappointing the Gators couldn't take advantage of an opponent that was weakened in terms of depth and in terms of their emotions.

Solely as to the OP: It's too late in the season (along with the current lack of any qualified replacement) to even consider replacing Malzahn at this time. It's also too soon for any replacement to do them any good this season. After their season is done (which is what - next week?) they can boot him to the curb and open the job to other qualified HC's looking to make a change.
