According to reports from the Auburn rivals site, Spanish Fort center prospect Reece Dismukes will delay his announcement. He was originally scheduled to choose a school this coming Thursday. He was expected to pick from Alabama, Auburn, and Florida State.

I'm hoping this news is coincidental, being that he is friends with Spencer Region. I'm sure the Auburn staff has tried to use his friendship with Region to have him delay, and take visits, as it was believed he was an Alabama lean. I guess we'll see in the coming weeks.

This really worries me. I don't think it is just a coincidence he is delaying his announcement too. Has something happened to make these recruits start to doubt or feel uneasy about playing at UA? Was Saban having an off day and come across short with players? I hope things get sorted out.

I don't have any info, but I doubt the staff would let another AL OL get away, especially to the barn. I think it's good for these kids to "get it out of their system" b/c I'm sure recruiting gets old quickly for most, but the attention is probably fun for a bit. He seems to be a priority for the staff and I wouldn't bet against CNS for in-state talent.

Think about it like this, Reese wanted to commit but CNS told him he better be sure. So, instead of reacting hastily like his friend Spencer, he put his decision on hold to take visits. This is most likely very similar to what happen. Also, at this point I still believe Reese ends up at UA.

Never underestimate the power of peer pressure. It will all depend on how thick the barn is turning up the negative recruiting and just how negative Spencer is on us now. There have been some ugly things said about Spencer on different forums and You Tube by our fans across the state. You wonder if some kids will be turned off by that.

IF Dismukes is having seconds thoughts he is handling it better than other recruits have in the past. Not singling out Regions here, he is not the only one to handle a change of the mind wrong in the recruiting process.

Honestly, I think we're past the point of worrying who goes where when we do not get them signed with us... CNS is going to consistenly bring in the BEST guys who fit his systems and let the other chips fall where they may. In the past, I do think we may have signed kids just to keep them off the rosters of our rivals... but I believe that's a practice of the past. If Dismukes has a commitable offer and doesn't take it, we will move on - no hard feelings.

Agree. I think if you take a look at someone like Shon Coleman, that's pretty much what happened. We thought we had a good chance at him and he chose the barn... we said, "oh, that sucks" and moved on.

Everyone needs to understand that we're not only an Alabama powerhouse now, but also a National powerhouse. While we want the top players in the state, if we can get the top players in the nation instead... its not a bad thing to fall back on.

Calm down folks. The sky has not fallen because of some kid's hasty decision. Remember, the only important recruits are those that commit and sign with the Tide. Whoever signs with the Tide will have the opportunity to receive the best coaching available and if they are smart enough, dedicated enough, and talented enough, they will start early. Those that shy away from that kind of competition may not have been right for Alabama anyway.

For the most part, I feel like we do take that approach. Region is not your typical recruit, nor was his reaction typical.

Exactly X2...

Reece Dismukes has not secretly committed to Alabama either. If Dismukes decides to go with AU then it will be a completely different situation. Dismukes grew up an Auburn fan, you could understand that. If it happens then I for one will wish him well unless he dogs CNS and Bama like Region did.

BET,

Any thoughts on this? Is this just a product of Coach Saban's change in dealing with early commitments, or is it tied to the Region news as some have suggested?

Eh, nowhere near enough information out there to say anything definite about it one way or the other.

Based on what little we know, I imagine it is still probably what you mentioned about Coach Saban demanding a 100% firm commitment. Besides, what's the rush to commit any way? It's still a year 'til National Signing Day, so there's no reason to do it now anyway.

Admittedly, though, he did grow up an Auburn fan and a close friend of his commits to Auburn, that obviously doesn't help our cause. I'm not really worried so much about the Region deal, honestly, but from the looks of things Dismukes has been a pretty big Auburn fan growing up, parents are season ticket holders and everything. That would be more of a concern to me than anything with Region.

We actually offered Dismukes a good month or so before Auburn did, and that clearly helped our cause. Even after Auburn offered, he still had us in the lead. Of course, though, it's hard to say exactly how things will hold up.

I have a hard time seeing us landing Dismukes after reading all this. And again like the Region thread, big deal we'll find someone better! Like some have said in this thread Dismukes really isnt Saban's type of road grader guard that he looks for, but obviously he thinks he's a player... we'll see I guess...

Our staff has Dismukes rated substantially higher than Region. He is a great prospect as a true center.
