My family upgraded to the new iPhone 15 pro max yesterday after ordering them about a month ago with some very generous trade-in discounts. Mrs. BN & I had 4-yr old iPhone 12's and older daughter had a 1st gen SE (5+ years old). So pretty old and batteries were deteriorating fast. I think we had 5's & 6's before that! We don't usually upgrade until we have to and it was getting close to that time.

Anyway, anyone have these new 15PM models? If so, have you discovered any new features you like or things you can now do that couldn't previously?

I gave up android years ago when I felt I needed to be a developer to get the stupid thing to work as designed. iPhone just works without me having to use my tech skills.

I'm the opposite of a harley guy who gets mad b/c new harleys don't need a bunch of tinkering to get them to run :D

Our family cell phones are part of my wife's business phone plan.

So, she comes in the door last week - with a sack full of new iPhone 15's - saying Merry Christmas.

Six phones in all - three 15's; for the business, two 15 Pro's; for my daughter and me, and a 15 Pro Max (to be shipped); for my wife.

For business reasons, she decided to switch from AT&T to Verizon.

So, 6 free phones, with $200 credit for each old phone. She was pretty pumped.

Me too, cause it's the first time I have owned "the newest model" phone. I usually get my wife's hand-me-down phones :D

To your original question, @BamaNation, I haven't had an opportunity to explore my phone yet.

I am guessing my 15 Pro is basically the same phone as your 15 Pro Max?

I think so. I typically am about 1 gen behind when I buy but the deal this time was so good I bit. Also, my daughter really needed an upgrade, and I didn't want her to have a better one than me :D (not really)

I think the main things are the camera features and the longer battery life for the 15max - and the screen size is larger than what I've had previously so that's taking some adjusting.

I got the phone on Saturday. I've only had it charging for about 30 min in the meantime and still have 25% battery life left. That alone might be worth it. I think after the trade in and discounts the 3 phones together will cost me less than $800 over 3 years.

There are a few differences with the camera and battery between the Pro and Pro Max (obviously the screen size is different as well). Whether they matter is in the eye of the beholder. Since the Max is bigger, the battery is slightly bigger, and Apple's website list these small differences:

Pro / Pro Max
Video playback: 23 hours / 29
Video playback (streamed): 20 hours / 25
Audio playback: 75 hours / 95

Camera differences are as follows:

Pro - 12MP 3x Telephoto: 77 mm, Æ’/2.8 aperture, optical image stabilization; 3x optical zoom in, 2x optical zoom out; 6x optical zoom range; Digital zoom up to 15x

Max - 12MP 5x Telephoto: 120 mm, ƒ/2.8 aperture, 3D sensor‑shift optical image stabilization and autofocus, tetraprism design; 5x optical zoom in, 2x optical zoom out; 10x optical zoom range; Digital zoom up to 25x

My wife and I are still waiting for our 15 Pro Maxs to be delivered, suppose to ship Nov. 13-21. Normally we rotate getting new phones and use Apple Card monthly installments. Apple's monthly price was always too high for the Pro models but these AT&T deals were too good to pass up. She is getting $850 trade in for her 3 year old iPhone 12 and I'm getting $1000 for my 2 year old 13. Her Pro Max will be $11 a month for 3 years while mine will be $6. Apple's payment plans would have been around $50 a month for 2 years for each phone.

We have never had the pro versions before, always just the regular ones so, we are excited. I'm excited for the larger screen, she can't wait for the better camera.
