Dittos. The more I see of other sites, Alabama based and otherwise, the more I appreciate TideFans. I'm no prude, but I get so sick of the bouncing avatars, barely clad females and cursing on other sites. Lot's of 14 yr old boy behavior.I guess TideFans has conditioned me to a more civil discourse so that many of the things said on that site just jump off the screen at me. Thanks Mods for keeping it clean over here.
Utah isn't playing your tradition, it's playing your team. Our crimson uniforms are tradition with a capital T. The Utes can't match that. Anyone with any knowledge of college football can recognize our unis. Although Oklahoma and Arkansas are close in color only.
I think that you missed his point, which was not about the teams, but the uniforms. At least, that is what I took from the post. Our uniforms are very plain and traditional - just the way we like it... :biggrin2:Utah isn't playing your tradition, it's playing your team.
Actually, Utah will be playing against Bama's tradition in some fashion.Utah isn't playing your tradition, it's playing your team.
So the only team they played beat them 35-10.
It was at least 4 plays from TCU winning right? 4 80 yard touchdown passes. By that logic Clemson almost beat us.The score is not indicative of the way the game was played. Oklahoma dominated the score board but the game was a few plays from being tied. TCU held their rushing attack pretty well.
RhYno's assessment of TCU (and presumably other western schools) is exactly why so many Ute fans have major chips on their shoulder.
I would say the biggest win was either TCU or BYU, but that's just me. :conf2:Their biggest win of the year was against a 3-9 Michigan team. End of conversation.
It obviously had an effect in the Georgia Black-Out............. NOT!!!Why Earle you must have forgotten how much team colors have a effect on a game.....
Well, that sucks for them, too. In case they haven't noticed, our team's not too shabby, either.Utah isn't playing your tradition, it's playing your team.
Y'all have a great team, don't get me wrong. I'm just saying that Utah will coach up its guys to not be intimidated. They weren't intimidated at the Big House and I don't think they will be at the Sugar Bowl.Well, that sucks for them, too. In case they haven't noticed, our team's not too shabby, either.
The Utes won't be able to stop our running game. And they don't have Tebow running their spread, nor do they have anything resembling the speed of Florida. This has the ingredients for a long night in Nawlins for them.
exactly!y'all have a great team.......... Utah's been able to do that to other running teams, but they haven't played a team of alabama's caliber.
However, Utah has faced several opponents in the past few years who say all the same things. "You have faced some good teams but they're not ..."exactly!
roll tide!!
Hello Tokolosh,Alabama is a great program and I am excited for this match up. I may be proven wrong but this team can compete with Alabama and is hungry to prove it.
I'm not dismissive but in all candor those concerns you cite are no longer valid. Saban and his staff addressed those areas and others in spectacular fashion. Bama will be ready to go regardless of who they are playing. Anybody expecting a let down better not be on the field because I have a feeling they might get hurt.I'm a little surprised that some of our fans are so dismissive of Utah given our recent history. We've lost to the likes of Northern Illinois, La. Tech (twice), Central Florida, Louisiana-Monroe, Minnesota, etc. Utah is a far better opponent than many of those teams. Given our recent 0-2 record with UCLA, Alabama fans shouldn't be too dismissive of western teams either. I remember quite a few comments prior to the 2000 UCLA game that Alabama was tougher, California surfer boys couldn't handle us, etc. One team did get physically embarrassed that year, and it wasn't UCLA.
Honestly, I would be more concerned if we were playing TCU than Utah. I mean, I watched the Utah/TCU game and I am still not sure how Utah won. They beat Utah up and down the field. They missed 2 chip shot FGs late in the game. They threw a pick that set up a FG for Utah in the first half. TCU also got help on their final drive (in which they scored a TD to take the lead with less than 2 minutes to play).TCU has a great defense ranked above Alabama and has given up almost 800 fewer yards than Alabama. Ranked right behind Alabama in total defense is Tennessee with half the wins TCU has so go figure. I have been a fan of Gary Patterson since I figured out he was the one behind fRan's good teams at TCU. As an up and commer I think he is already there.
and Utah.Remember UM was at Utah. He invented Crimson.
