Just wanted to find out what you guys were getting for Valentine's Day... If its safe to post here.

Just wanted to brag on my wonderful wife. She got me a Pennant thats has a vintage Bama look. It looks like wool and has the old school Bama logo of the elephant charging through the "A" to go in my Bama room. I also got an Awbie calendar full of Aubie cartoons and jokes, and also a copy of the '93 Sugar Bowl game on DVD. I love her!!!

I won a radio contest where I had to write a short email about why my wife should win the prize. At the risk of showing that I actually have feelings, I won't post the email, but I won and here's what she gets:

$100 gift card to Cozymel
3 hour limo ride from home to dinner and back
1 hour free massage from a local spa
4 coupons for free 30 minute massages from the same spa
1 free hand and foot paraffin treatment from the same spa
1 free bottle of some kind of crap from the same spa
$100 gift card to a local jewelry store

I did good.

You're setting the bar way to high for the rest of us.

Seriously, AJ. Ease up there, dude. You're getting too far ahead of the rest of us! :D

mrs. exiled requested the pleasure of my company all day today. (both of us had the day off) Breakfast/coffee/chatting/reading at Starbucks, followed by poking around at couple of local stores, followed by lunch at this outstanding roadside fruitstand just north of here (best hamburger in the pine belt area!), followed by a matinee of Welcome Roscoe Jenkins, followed by ice cream at a regional chain called "Bops." Now, sitting by the fire...she's reading, & I'm checking out Tidefans.

We gave each other books & candy, plus I gave her a necklace.

I have declared this day seized! :biggrin2:

exiled

p.s. - 27 years ago today, she & I had our first date while students @ the Capstone. Long, long ago, with many miles between here & there, and yet, it seems like just last week.

Well, I bought my GF of two years an engagement ring and proposed to her about three hours ago. I was going to wait till later this evening but i was so close to puking from nerves, I had to go ahead and do it :PDT_dan: .

This is both of our second time around and I shouldnt have been so nervous but dang this proposing thing is insane, haha. I aint doing it again! I am a 36 year old grown man with two kids. Nothing should make me that nervous (except an Alabama Game)!!!

(Did I seize the day?)

exiled, what's the name of that burger joint? I think I've ate there, but the name escapes me.

By the way, I went traditional this year for Valentines Day. Just had a dozen red roses delivered to the wife at her office and a very nice card. She was very happy. She got me box of candy and a Hershey's Kiss the size of a baseball!

Shady Acres. It's on Highway 49 a few miles north of H'burg toward Jackson. Looks like a dump from the outside, but oh my, what a burger! mrs. exiled always gets a plate lunch, btw. Plus they have some other redneck accessories like various fruits & veggies, syrups, tomato relishes, & such available for sale.:p_wink: One of the few places around where one can buy honest-to-God sorghum molasses, which we did today. I like eating at a place where one will sit near university professors, bankers, engineers, pulpwood haulers, farmers, students,...all at the same time. Shady Acres is such a place, to be sure.

Yep,,, thats it. We also like Farmer's Market and Cane Creek in H'burg. Thanks for helping my memory. Sorry about the temporary hijack of thread:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

HAHA...Yes of course she did! The best part about it was that she had no idea it coming. I liked that it was a total suprise to her.

good for you and congratulations. i was able to set up the surprise last august when i proposed. we had not even brought up the subject (although i did find out after she picked her jaw up off of the ground and could talk again, that she was getting ready to lay down the ultimatum.)

Gotta love that free crap!!! What radio station gave all this away?? Please tell me this was not a promo by 104.5......George Plaster is about as interesting as a trip to the dentist and just as painful to listen to.
