Game Thread: Vanderbilt vs. Ole Miss

  • Hi Guest, we are working on updating the site servers and software. We're also 'forcing' everyone to read and agree to our site privacy policy and terms of service. There are no significant changes to either of these but the terms page does clarify a few things that are mostly in the legalese. You can just click the checkbox for both and continue using the site as usual! We'll update you more on the site upgrades VERY soon! THANK YOU AS ALWAYS for supporting the site and being an active participant!

:BigA:I was at the game and came away with several observations.

1. Ole Miss has given up on the year (team and fan base).
2. There is no player leadership on the team.
3. The fan base has heard the rumors about Nutt and are starting to
believe that he may not be the answer to their prayers after all.
4. They are embarassed about the Masoli situation and are reluctantly ready to admit that the only reason to subject themselves to this problem is that Nutt did a poor job of recruiting.
5. The most telling problem I saw was that one of their prospects wearing a prospects badge, came to the Ole Miss game wearing an Alabama Crimson Tide t shirt.
6. The attitude that the Board of Trustees has about keeping the University small and not trying to compete with the other SEC schools, will keep them a second class citizen. They should give in state tuition to all Memphis kids. They should raise enrollment to 25,000 each year. They would then have an opportunity to fill up Vaught Hemingway. I estimate that they had 38-40,000 in the stands today.
7. All my friends at the game today asked, sarcastically, if I was afraid yet? They are very afraid that Saban is going to hang 50 on them.

The way our offense has looked, this is a good possibility.

Good observations, LiT. I think you're rt on w/ all of them. Last time I saw the #s, UM was *considerably* smaller than MSU and USM.

:BigA:Mississippi State gives Memphis kids in state tuition. I am afraid that Ole Miss will discover too late that they have lost a whole generation of Memphis kids.

There is certainly a problem there. Since we know Nutt is a good HC (not great, but good) and he led them to the Cotton Bowl the past two years, then I can only conclude it is the Masoli situtation.
