Vanderdoes Status at ND unclear

It is college. You are going to probably have a pretty good time wherever you go.

At some point kids, just make a decision and live with it.

Few people get to chose their own full rides, so just pick the best one for you and don't look back.

Not condoning standing ND or any other school up at the altar, but realistically, you can't really blame the kid. After all, who in their right mind would give up southern California for Indiana?

Did someone force him to pick ND? I can blame the kid for not meeting his commitments. Not Bama material IMO...character too low.

Does he have to go to a CA school and play right away? Who was the kid Bama had in 2010 and was enrolled and the NCAA would not clear him. He went to play at East Carolina or something and then left the school.

I don't want him at Bama, I'm glad he's going to UCLA.

I'm gonna have to disagree with this. I'd take a chance on him, simply because of his talent. He can be processed in Saban's system and become a great player with a strong work ethic or he can have a bad attitude and can "ride the pine". Either way, Bama would be just fine so very little to lose.

It seems disingenuous to automatically label an 18 yo kid "low character" for realizing he made a mistake and wants to be close to family. Especially if there are academic issues that might make it harder for him to stay eligible at ND. Do you have any evidence that he has proven his low character by anything other than signing with ND and then believing it was a mistake? I can't say that I've never made a bad decision and then had to deal with consequences of trying to fix it after the fact. Can you? Now, if you can point out some other signs of moral turpitude, please, enlighten me...

I think ND would like everybody to think academic standards are the reason. It may be that Vanderdoes doesn't want to play in the snow, but ND will have us believe that he was not qualified.

Yes, I could not remember his name. What ever happended with him? It was such a shame how he was able to enroll and then during fall camp, he was not on the team any longer.
Doing some research, I was reminded of all of his stops...

Alabama
East Carolina
Mississippi JUCO
California JUCO
Commits to South Carolina in March, 2012
Commits to UNC-Pembroke in January, 2013

I can't find where he signed anywhere in January.

Edit: Just read an article stating he enrolled in a JUCO near his hometown in NC with hopes to enroll in UNC-Pembroke.

There were rumors that he was seen with a real, live girlfriend. It's also rumored that he doesn't believe in leprechauns and that Vanderdoes isn't really an Irish name.
