We had a Veterans Day lunch at church Sunday. I was the youngest at 64. Oldest was 89 and longest time in service was just under 37 years.

We had a Veterans Day lunch at church Sunday. I was the youngest at 64. Oldest was 89 and longest time in service was just under 37 years.

My neighbor is a retired Army Colonel. Served almost 30 years in both Gulf Wars and with NATO as a military advisor in Afghanistan. (Operation Resolute Support).

The stories he can tell. People have no idea.

I also had the honor of meeting Major Richard “Dick” Winters, of “Band of Brothers” fame. His son was a work colleague of mine at the time. What an incredible gracious and humble man.

It will always be one of the great privileges of my life…being able to meet him and shake his hand.
