Waikiki Longboarding, The Future

In 1970 Rolf Aurness won the Surfing World Championship at Bells Beach and his father James Arness the Hollywood actor (he featured in the tv western drama 'Gunsmoke' as Marshall Matt Dillon) travelled with him to Victoria (Australia). The pair surfed at Bells in the lead up to the event. This footage from John Bennett's film Blue Cool shows James Arness surfing Bells on his Bing Foil.

James Arness was 6'7"! Injured his leg in WW II. He's doing pretty good on these waves!

Dude, that is some lame surf music.

Even for gremmies.

Wait................even gremmies wouldn't listen to that stuff.

(What has the world turned into?)

No blue font but I assume you're just joking, @cuda.1973 -

I thought it was very good for the footage....in fact IMHO it was perfect for that setting.

FWIW, I liked it so much that downloaded the MP3 last night and already have it in today's work playlist so I can enjoy it even more.

Old dog....new tricks...... ;)
