Washington/Pac-12 looks to make a statement vs. Auburn/SEC

Washington's coach senses what a large portion of the Pac-12 has already picked up on: The Huskies' season opener against Auburn in Atlanta just might be the conference's game of the year.

Petersen doesn't necessarily agree, mind you. But given the Pac-12's soiled reputation, let's just say it would be in the league's best interest the Huskies fly across the nation and smack the Tigers in the grill in the heart of SEC country.

This big conference vs. conference game is one of the reasons I love college football. Pac 12 fans may not really care but the team and coaches do. This is a win//win for me. Auburn wins and I yell "SEC SEC SEC." Auburn loses and I "LOL LOL LOL." This is supposed to be a close game. I am not sure Washington has the defense to hang with Auburn.

I wish them well but I don’t see them beating the barn.

You can yell “SEC SEC SEC”, but I’m hoping for a 1-13 opening week showing for the SEC ( Bama being the only win).

I was listening to ESPU radio this morning and it seems that some expect LSU to Smash Miami’s O-Line in their opening game. It would sure be nice to have the SEC west dominate in some earl P5 games.

It's a little different for the Pac-12. Unlike the SEC, B1G, and ACC the Pac-12 and Big XII are constantly fighting for respect and have routinely been left out of the playoff.

Last year the Pac-12 lost a few high profile non-conference games early in the season and it basically nerfed the conference for the season -- nobody even considered USC for the playoff despite being an 11-2 conference champ (and Ohio State showed why in the Cotton Bowl.) This is a BIG game for the conference. If they lose (and say, USC loses to Texas) it could be tough for them to get back to the playoff.

I could be wrong, but a PAC 12 team playing in Atlanta, in what is essentially a home game for auburn, is likely to get curb stomped. I believe UW is a very good football team and Petersen is an excellent coach, but the PAC 12 ain't the SEC West.

Where ever there's BBQ, Bourbon & Football
I initially chalked up a loss for LSU. But I'm beginning to hear from a lot of my LSU buds who have their ears to the ground of everything LSU football that they may actually have a better than average QB this season with the kid from Ohio St transferring in. Supposedly he's turning some heads.

I think Washington beats Auburn in a close one. The only reason I say it's a close one is because I really don't think Washington's OL can handle Auburn's DL. However, Gus will be out coached by Peterson.

I like your spirit, but slimey pragmatism and a little misplaced affection forces me to pull for some SEC teams - AU ain't one of 'em. But you have a pure heart .

Washington will upset Auburn but Auburn will have it all still open to them heading into Athens in mid November.

I just hope that they are good games. There is no way to guess what Auburn or LSU will look like.

I hope UW curb stomps the Barn but I hope every team they play does that.

I will be pulling for LSU against Miami. Unless it is the Barn or the Viles I pull for the SEC to win against OOC foes. It helps us to get in the playoffs and without the SEC being so strong we probably don't get a chance to play for title a couple of times in the last few years.

This would be awful for our strength of schedule. Our out of conference games are already bad enough.

Ed Orgeron will still be the head coach regardless.

I can pull for LSU over the U, but....
