It somehow didn't occur to me until yesterday that I'll be at a wedding in Italy for the first game vs MTSU.

Does anyone have experience watching games in Italy or any other country?

My current guess is that I'll need to purchase a VPN but I've actually done that before either so curious for any info or advice anyone may have.

They planned a destination wedding for the opening weekend of football season?
Neither are massive football fans. Though he is a little. I can't remember where she went to school and he went to USCw when they were pretty miserable.

You should at least be able to stream the radio feed. But it is just MTSU so it’s not like you’re missing Texas.

Enjoy the trip!!!

You could probably pick up the radio broadcast on the TuneIn Radio app and listen to Eli Gold.

It'll take some dedication, though.

Kickoff is 6:30 Tuscaloosa time. Which will be 7 hours behind Central European Time. IOW, kickoff will be 1:30AM Sunday where you'll be.

I think you should ask Coach Saban since he went to Italy last month. lol. Just kidding.

My friend's niece is getting married in Tuscany next May and they are all going to Italy for it.

I have traveled to many countries, but Italy is still on my bucket list.

That part doesn't bother me. Wedding goes until 12:30 and knowing this group of people there will be an after party of some sort so I'll be awake. As long as I can see the first half or so I'm good.

Just want to see the QB situation. I think I'll have to buy a VPN for a month from what I've found

If you wait until Sunday, someone normally puts the entire game on Youtube. That's what I would do when I lived in Europe. I tried watching Bama-Florida State live one game (an evening game in Jacksonville so 0230 in Napoli) and It was not worth the headaches. MTSU will kick at 0130 Sunday morning Italy time.
Watch the game at a civilized time Sunday on youtube.

Fair point lol. But my bet is I'll watch the first quarter or half live. I'm sure I'll be up anyway.

For me, it would depend on how long I was staying in Europe. If only a few days, then maybe. But the days would be a drag.
I had a colleague who would go to Europe for work for a one or two week trips. He would land at 0725, get to his hotel, go immediately to bed for eight hours, wake up at 1900, and then spend the next week complaining that he could not get to sleep on European time.

When Mrs. Basket Case and I cross the pond, we make a point to gut through the first day until local bedtime. It’s not easy, and has gotten harder with age.

If you can stand the price (offsetting some or all of the extra cost with travel miles helps a lot), Premium Economy or Business Class allows real sleep, and you wake up at the local rising time, more or less.

Doesn’t eliminate jet lag altogether, but helps a ton.

There should be plenty of free streams available. Discord is usually good for a few.

If you are tech-savvy, get a Amazon Firestick and connect it to your TV in Italy. I'm a retired airline pilot and always took a Firestick with me when flying to Europe. That way you can watch American channels and understand what is going on. It's great for sporting events, news channels, political stuff, ect.... Amazon has them for $39.99. They are actually really easy to hook up to a TV. Enjoy Italy.

When I went to Italy, I just didn't watch any football. I just enjoyed my trip. I followed the game for a bit on tidefans, but the 6 hour time difference made it nearly impossible

I was in China a few years ago and Bama was playing Tex AM. Difficult getting access to much of the internet in China but my hotel had good wifi. I had my wife setup an IPad at home on a TV tray in front of the TV. Moved it back and forth until the camera was catching the TV screen from edge to edge. Then I made a FaceTime call to that IPad from my laptop in China. Watched the whole game on Facetime and had perfect video clarity and audio. Even got to chat with her as we watched the game. Worked like a charm--and Bama smacked those AM goobers good.

Yea I definitely get that option but I'll be there for almost 2 weeks and it'll be the one night I'm up late anyway so I figure it won't be too hard.

I was there for 2 weeks as well. I think I missed the Louisville & Arkansas State games. Both were blowouts so I did not miss much. I would sweat too much if you miss Middle Tennessee, but if you are missing texas as well you might want to find a way. Hopefully you are not going in August at all since practically the whole country goues on vacation in August. Possibility of some things you will want to see being closed. Have a good time.
