My big question is, knowing how important winning your first game in OKC, why did Montana not start yesterday against Tennessee? Why not go with your best option, and maybe we're not playing in this game.

(obviously, if she was a little gimpy yesterday then she can't go, but she looks fairly healthy, considering the knee, to me.

Oh well. It ended up a lot better year than I thought. I've heard softball can go to 3 coaches next year. If Murphy doesn't hire a hitting coach, then I'm not sure where the program is headed.

I'm proud of the ladies for doing what they needed to get here. Good luck to all the departing seniors!

Well, I guess we followed the LIFO inventory method for this WCWS - last in, first out. I was hoping for a better finish for Montana. So, on to next year. I hope Murphy will fix things.

Folks i believe were going to find out Montana was pitching on nothing but guts and heart since that knee injury. I’m not going to be surprised if she is facing surgery in the next few days/weeks. She wanted to finish. And that she did.
Yep, I heard it is a partially torn ACL. She has done great with the injury. She's one tough woman. I think we could have won last night if we had just a few more hits to get things going. I kind of figured it would be hard to win after Stanford hit the home run, but I still had lots of hope when it was just 1-0. At least Bama made it to the WCWS, which is a big accomplishment for this year's team. Hopefully Murph will hire a hitting coach for next season. I have not watched any Bama baseball this season but saw they won last night. I may try to watch them play some this weekend. RTR

I hope Murphy is gone. This program has been trending down for years and I believe a new voice is needed.
I don’t disagree that we need a new voice. The offense has been an issue for several years now, and this year the struggles at the plate were just impossible to cover up.

That said, I don’t know how you fire a HOF coach with his historic record, after a year in which we got to the WCWS.

Yeah, I know without Fouts, Shipman and Prange, next year will probably be a train wreck….but I don’t think he is in trouble until that actually happens.

An AD would not be doing his job if he didnt allay his concerns to Murph about the direction of the program.

In the pre-WCWS press conference Murph referred to this team as the "the little engine that could" with Shipman and Fouts sitting right there to hear it. Which I took as a lazy slight by Murph, who came across as knowing but unwilling to acknowledge he has rode the back of Fouts and Shipman. He's not the leader of this team based on how he acted in that PC. He sat there and just sucked up to them. The ladies really seem to be coaching themselves.

If I am the AD, I encourage him to seriously consider retiring.

Can anyone let us know what Habetz' specialty / expertise is? Bama desperately needs a hitting coach. Obviously Murphy and Habetz are incompetent at this. The game has changed and Murph is still operating as if we're in the year 2005.
Habetz is a fielding coach. Usually a HC is a fielding coach and your two paid positions are a hitting and pitching coach. But in order to keep Habetz on the payroll Murph has doubled as a hitting coach. No good hitting coach will work for free these days in softball. You can get away with it in baseball but not softball.

1) Had we played any other regional then we probably don’t sniff a Super

2) If LSU can move on from Les Miles, Ed, and Manieri then we can move on from Murph. Heck Manieri is very comparable to Murphy in that he constantly got LSU to the cusp of a CWS after winning one but constantly choked. Change is needed ASAP because when Natty Patty (her nickname at OU) comes into the SEC we are in for a rude awakening.

Murph has let this program slide from that group in 2011-2014 to something that is only dominated by pitching. Pitching is secondary to hitting. Murph should have figured that out two years ago when he saw Montana and Oddicci not be able to get out of a 2-0 vs 2-1 Semifinal.
