Weather thread, Part II

@Bazza This hurricane looks to be headed pretty close to you tomorrow morning. Reading your posts, I can tell you're well-prepared, but please let us know how things are going. Whatever we get here in Jacksonville won't compare to your area.

Thanks for asking and caring @Huckleberry - all is well here. I just came back in from a walk around making sure I didn't have any loose items that the high winds would blow around. Took a few photos of my prized palms that will probably have their fronds shredded. Also brought an extra gallon of gas and some more extension cord to my back patio where my generator sits, just in case.

Best wishes to all in Milton's path!

One of my patients is a lineman. He is in Florida now. He goes all over the country for storms and is well paid. It's a job I don't want, but I'm grateful there are those willing to do it.

Saw this in the news.....

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Wednesday at a press conference in Tallahassee that he will have 50,000 linemen ready to work on relief efforts as soon as Hurricane Milton passes through the state.

“We have also worked with the utilities to have the largest staging of utility workers and lineman in advance of the storm at any time in American history,” DeSantis said.

“As soon as that storm passes, you are going to see the assessments, and the power restorations commence immediately,” the governor promised, adding that he is bringing in workers “from places as far away as California.”

Oy! Somebody needs to have a word with our local newscasters here in Palm Beach County. Yes, we've also been getting a lot of tornadoes even this far south. Yes, some are worse than the ones normally spun by the hurricanes but do not call them "Kansas level tornadoes". What a doofus!

So far all friends and family are all good in central FL.

Let us know how you fared, @Bazza
He may not have power. I hope that's all that happened! I'm in West Palm just west of the airport. Just west of us and not far north, the tornadoes were hitting. West and north of them, even worse. I'm still trying to get news of friends in Tampa.

My friends in St Pete are fine - no power, water, or sewer this AM but water and sewer are back (though they're under a boil notice). Looks like about 60% of Hillsborough and Pinellas are without power, so that might take a while.

For one, anyone interested in taking up the offer still has to pay approximately $400 for the dish itself (including shipping and tax) and they’re getting automatically rolled into a $120 per-month contract when the free month ends.

Hello everyone......thanks so much for the caring!

My power and Internet just came back on! It went down Wed. night around 9pm.

Feels good to be part of the civilized world again...lol!

Fortunately, my generator came through to power some essentials.

And cell service never went down so had my phone.

Haven't driven around town yet so not sure about local damage. We got the usual wind gusts and rain but not as bad as Ian and Nicole were 2 years ago so it'll mostly be cleanup of storm tossed debris for most I suspect.

Hoping for all affected to find some relief in the coming days. 🙏
