Cole Cublic yesterday said “Milroe’s inability to shift protection is a large part of the offensive line’s issues”.
Which makes one think “hhhmmm was part of Seth’s snap issues due to Milroe’s inability to shift protections putting that on him too?”

I mean it is amazing (cough, cough) how Seth’s snap issues miraculously disappeared to the point he became an All American and Rimington Award Winner at tOSU.

So JM calls the play, because it's spoken to him in his helmet, but he can't slide with the protection???

My goodness!
IIRC this is a very similar situation to what we saw last year against Michigan in the CFP semifinals. If that is the case, then all the Michigan defensive staff had to do to prep for this year was “eat Cheetos and watch last year’s film”.

Cublic has made the point all season that there have been numerous times when an o lineman has been standing around with no one to block or 3 guys go to one defender. He says “90% of the time that is a case of a quarterback calling the wrong protection and not an offensive line issue”

Dude I can't remember one single time where you see him adjust protection.

Seth was constantly having to do it last year and he was animated with it.

He looked like a Center doing it in a hostile road game but in BDS.

Milroe never called Hot Routes or anything.

It was super noticable because Bryce was probably one of the most noticable examples of doing that stuff because BoB gave complete control to him wrt to Audibles and because BoB was so bad at play calling Bryce had to do it a ton.

Milroe is not a QB.

He can't do a single thing at the LOS.

He has a strong arm but that's mitigated by his terrible mechanics and footwork.

He's fast in a straight line but that's mitigated by having no vision or lateral wiggle.

The NFL will eat him alive and pick the bones clean.

I don't recall which game - maybe South Carolina - but NILroe was literally sliding protection away from their best pass rusher, multiple times, so there was zero ability for help, and I think once it meant a TE had the guy 1-1.

Now that I read through this thread, what are we doing here? Is this just another attempt to bash a player that's not even on the team anymore? Wow, this is the only Bama site I use because the moderators keep it clean, but this is getting ridiculous. Tidefans isn't what it used to be.

Nothing is what it used to be, but Tidefans has allowed accurate player criticism as long as I have posted here.

I find it weird how when people can’t dispute the claims being made about a player’s performance or behavior they resort to three tactics… 1) make outlandish remarks that indicate that this is the most over criticized player in Alabama history even though Cade Foster exists. 2) openly criticize the mods for not doing their jobs or more specifically how that particular poster feels that they should be doing their jobs and 3) try to get the thread shut down by picking fights that fall within the rules of the board but has rendered the thread into obnoxious banter.

I do think some criticism on Milroe went overboard but then again much of the praise and “I told your so” threads did too. Then again alot of what Milroe has said and done off the grass while many continuously paint him as a shining example of what a Bama player should be has warranted alot of criticism. Again I constantly bring this up… Milroe and Blake Sims are nearly identical stories on the field and what they had to overcome but Milroe is criticized while Sims is hailed as a great player… Ask yourself why.

He can have his opinion, just like everyone else. Stop trying to bully people into your agenda. And the OL was absolutely a problem.
I'll bite:
1: you can't expect the Oline to hold the dline back for 4,5,6 secs because you want to throw it 60 yrds down field every pass play (the majority, anyway).
2: An offensive line is only as good as the play caller (QB on the field who calls protection, audibles into a better play depending on defensive alignment, etc). If the qb can't read the defense and know what to do and calls bad protections or can't audible out of a bad play call then the oline is screwed.
3: when you have a qb who can't throw screens and slants and can't accurately throw the ball to the rb in the flat (frequently turning the rb around and the play basically killing the play from the start) the defense is then of the ability and mindset to REALLY get after the qb because they don't have to cover the whole field. Therefore they can bring more than you can block.

No, our oline wasn't perfect but you go ahead and show us one that was/is even under the best of QBs.
For better or worse, etc, our BIGGEST ( not only. just the biggest) issue was at QB.

Second biggest was cancers in the locker room. Believe what you will about that.

How did we get here? The NIL and transfer portal. These two things changed the sport from college athletics to professional sports. Professionals only care about money.

Why did CNS leave? The NIL and Transfer portal destroyed the sport he loved and worked so hard to protect.
