Let me be the first to welcome the Oklahoma State lurkers. Please join in chat on this board. It should be pretty fun to talk some football with ya, leading up to the game.

Checked out the OK ST Scout Forum and found this interesting post from one of their guys:

Positives...
+Playing tradition rich Alabama. Even in a down year for them a win would be nice.
+Defensive Coordinator is now going to have to juggle Head Coaching duties as well as DC duties.

Negatives
- Dave Radar will be calling the plays and developing the game plan. Dave is a VERY creative guy and has not been calling the plays. We will have to go back to his Tulsa days to get an idea of what he might do. Only now he has 4 and 5 star athletes to play with.

Unknowns
+/-Most of their staff will have to have their job security in the backs of their minds. Thus they could try so hard to prove themselves that they try too hard. Or they could be looking around for another job which would cause them to be distracted.

+/-The team could be distracted. Think about when Les was going to LSU. The team knew and it effected their play.

Should be a great game

I thought the comments about Dave Rader were interesting and it sounds like our two programs match up well. They have a good offense and a weaker defense. We have a pretty good defense and an offense that has brought tears to my eyes this year (particularly in the red zone.)

This is not the first time I have read outside sources talking about Dave Rader as a great offensive mind. Makes you wonder why the he|| CMS wasn't letting him call a few plays every now and then. Of course, we haven't seen anything yet.

I think OSU will bring a strong game. They are a hungry team, and they can put points on the board, sometimes, it seems at will.

We will be somewhat handicapped with our coaching search, but Radar (who I think called some of the plays we saw against LSU) will put some more something on the table.

Lord knows that both Kines and Radar are about and have been about business. And the ONLY business in collegiate football has a shiney "W" on it. ROLL TIDE!

Ditto the last post. Look forward to playing y'all in Shreveport. Gundy is a good, young coach and he has a very, very good staff. It should be a good game...

Thank you to the Bama Nation. Look forward to talking football and finding out more about you guys over the next few weeks.

And before I go any further let me say that just like any sports board I have ever visited there will be some of our fans that will really want to talk smack with you guys.....ignore them. We do!

By and large you will find that we are a pretty savvy group of fans that love football and love the competition on the field.

Looking forward to Shreveport. We usually bring about 30 to 35,000 to a bowl game and I know you guys bring a lot so the big question is: how are they all going to fit in that stadium?

Should be fun!

I went to our last Indy bowl in 2001 against Iowa State. They brought a pretty good crowd and, of course, so did we. I must say I hope your fans are more civilized than theirs. You could see where their block of cars were in the parking lot area because after they left, it was littered with trash and nastiness that you couldn't imagine. It was an embarrassment to their school, IMHO.

Anyway, let's have a great time. Hope to see all you OSU fans in the casinos and at the game.

Like I said above.....glad to be aboard Tidefans.com

Now for a question from me. Y'all shocked quite a few people with the firing of Shula. Can somebody put a real good reason behind it for me? Yes, he had a bad year but usually the fans know the real reasons. Let me hear from y'all.

Thanks

The "bad year" and the "real reasons" are intertwined and juxtaposed. He is available to coach, for those that think he needs to be coaching. Do the Cowboys want him, you think?

Three weeks to gameplan for both teams. Hmmm.

Hey Memphis,

I am from Houston and watched your QB ( Bobby Reid ) in HS. He was AWESOME then. I expect him to give us fits with his athletic ability .

I have a question for Okie St. fans.

What is up with that mascot? Not trying to be rude, but that thing is kinda scary.

Hey Hey Hey:)

We love our Pistol Pete. A lot of pressure has been put on changing to the "soft headed" kind of mascot (Think Georgia Bulldog) but those of us who are old time alums just can't see it. Frank Eaton was a fixture around the area for so long. And one very colorful fellow.

If you want to know more try this link:

I'd rather have a pocket full of rocks than an empty gun!

As you've already noticed, you'll get a smart-aleck answer for asking said question.

I'll answer it as succinctly as I can.

1) bad year
2) team discipline
3) many people didn't like him as coach in the 1st place
4) never beat Auburn or LSU
5) offensive woes

It didn't surprise me was fired, I saw the writing on the wall. I don't agree with his dismissal and will just leave it at that.

BTW, how in the heck did ya'll lose to the University of Houston?

Yeah Bobby is special. In many ways he reminds us a lot of Vince Young with his abilities. Now the kicker to the thing is Bobby is fighting for his job. His back-up is just about as good and for that reason he has taken a bunch of game snaps in the last few games.
Don't get me wrong. Bobby is still number 1, but Zac Robinson is a very close second. Zac is actually a better passer. Plus we have a RS frosh that is going to give both of them fits. QB at OSU is looking good for several years to come.

It is curious to me that you can list your personal opinion as to five reasons you believe Mike Shula was fired and yet you don't agree with his dismissal.

I find your opinions incongruent with your opinions.

I apologize if any of this is not succinctly stated.

BTW, how in the heck did ya'll lose to the University of Houston?

Combination of factors. Striped shirted folks were part of it. Plus that night Kolb had the night of his life. Couldn't miss.

Plus, as you will find out, our defense is not the greatest in the land. High powered offense but not so good defense.
