(2) 2001 Alabama v. Southern Miss. This was the week after we beat Auburn 31-7, and it was pretty big because we needed the win to get bowl eligible. I really had not planned on going because I had made the drive up to Jordan-Hare the week before, but I was in the area to visit the family and figured that I would go. Me and some friends parked, and it was flooding, and honestly it was just getting started. I remember thinking to myself, "If we lose this one, this is going to be the worst experience I've ever had at a 'Bama game." Fortunately we held on, but it was miserable. As a whole it wasn't as bad as the 1979 LSU game, but at times it was even worse, and it would come in as a close second. I bet the equipment guys had to throw out every uniform that was put on that day.
I have to agree with this one...
Quick story: That was my last yr. in college & I was an asst. for the baseball team. 2 players were going to the game & stopped by to ask if I wanted to go. After a short debate w/ myself I decided to go & one of the other student assistants went also. On the way we decided to grab some, ummm, "beverages" to mix with our cokes & by the time we got there the players had talked 4 of the 5 people in the car into going shirtless & painting ourselves with the ESPN letters....btw, we eventually talked the 5th into doing it as the 2 for ESPN 2.
Long story short, we were on ESPN on multiple occassions & stood the majority of the second half in the endzone bleachers pretty much by ourselves, in the FLOODING RAIN. For some reason, not too many people were in the endzone bleachers ;):smilielol5:

I guess that type of stupidity/insanity is why they say your college years are the most memorable years of your life!

'94 Ole Miss Game

I bought my student season tickets and I wasn't going to waste even one of them. It looked like a high school stadium at one point in the game, but me and my friends weren't about to leave for even a second. I even stood out there during halftime(not real smart!), but hey, if I can sit in a deer stand in the pouring rain, then I can watch Bama play in the rain too.

It was either 1989 or 1990 Bame at Vanderbilt.

It was the first game I ever went to. I was young, so it might not have been that wet. I just remember having to wear a poncho the whole game.
it was '89 and it was that wet! rained the entire game. my dad was shivering by halftime but i couldn't get him to leave. i was scared he'd be sick from it but he managed ok.

That one was a tough one, no doubt about it. It wasn't just rain, but very severe weather. Chad Key, most of you guys will probably remember him, had this to say about it:

Chad Key said:
I have to admit, it was hard to keep my mind on the game. Don't get me wrong, I like football, but I like living, too.

1997, Mississippi State at Alabama. It was wet and freezing. I have never been so miserable in my entire career as a Bama fan.

My brother and I made the trip from Mobile, leaving about 0430 because the game was a Lincoln Financial 1130 start.

We stopped at Faunsdale on the way home, and they had that big fireplace stoked. I still remember standing in front of that roaring fire, and shivering for an hour.

...Snake's run through the mud. That was also the first
Bama game I attended. To this day those were some of the nastiest
conditions to play a football game I can remember.
Also the '72 State championship between Decatur and
Butler. I think Decatur won that one 8-0. That was a wet
one too.

ok, i was at the 2001 USM game and it was probably the scariest weather wise i've been to. thought a tornado was gonna land on Legion Field at any minute. but i was under the upper deck (which made it even more scary) - so i didn't get real wet.

so i would have to go with the '03 Ark game. it was POURING and EVERYONE was underneath by the concession stands - it was like cattle - you could not move...so i said forget that, and eventually we made our way back to our seats and sat in the rain.

that's the last time i remember it raining hard at a game....

That 94' Ole Miss game was something. I was trying to decide which school to attend and saw a bunch of guys in suits sliding in the mud across the quad after the game. That pretty much sealed the deal...

The other one was the 98' Music City bowl, where we got crushed by Va. Tech. It was snowing/sleeting in that old Vandy stadium and just a miserable game. The Tech fans were nice though, and Nashville is always good times, but that game! Oh, still stands out in my mind...

Arkansas 2003 or the 2000 Iron Bowl. I'll say the 2000 Iron Bowl because you remember being wet and cold a lot more than just being wet. I was in pain when I got back to my apartment and jumped into the shower after that game. I know I mentioned it in the coldest game thread, but it was the most miserable I've ever felt after a game.

It was '83. I was sitting in the end zone with my brother. Unseasonably warm.
First time I'd ever heard the PA announcer warm about the weather. Tornado warnings all over Birmingham -- hell, the bands and cheerleaders left for a while.

When the rain came, it arrived on the trajectory of arrows. And it hit just as we got the wind heading into the 4th Quarter.

I don't know what was worse: Bo's two long TD runs, the weather, or the drunk behind me N-wording it up everytime Walter Lewis ran on the field.

Now that I think of it, the weather wasn't that bad.
I'm not sure you remember the game correctly. It rained 99.9% of the game. The tornado's occured in the 1st half because the teams left the field for a while. It was nasty ALL DAY LONG but a great game. Don't forget Bo had a long run yes, but so did Bama's Ricky Moore. It was back and forth for most of the game.

That is correct on Ricky Moore. We were trailing 16-14, and we had the ball at around our own 40. I remember specifically that Auburn called a huge blitz, and we ran a draw play to Moore. It was one of those deals where it looked like he would get creamed, but somehow popped through and next thing you know it was nothing but green grass in front of him.

We went for two, and didn't get it. We kicked to Auburn, and on their first play from scrimmage, it was going about 70 yards around left end on Bye Bye Bo that gave them the 23-20 lead they would not relinquish.

Neither team scored in the fourth quarter, but I really cannot remember if that was because of the weather or not. Either way, the weather was absolutely terrible. Believe it or not, the teams combined to throw the football a good bit, despite the bad weather, but they could just get nothing. I can't remember off-hand, I'd have to look at the archives of RollTide.com, but I think both teams only combined to throw for around 100 yards that day.

2000 Iron Bowl. Dubose's last game.

Sleet mixed in with rain all game. Temps in lower 30's and the drain on our row was stopped up so we had to stand in 6 inches of icy slush. I was miserable and we lost 9-0 which made it even worse. Stopped at Sears on the way home and bought all new clothes so we could at least have a comfortable ride back to Huntsville.

I thought I had won the lottery when I was GIVEN (free!) two tickets in the famous Gold Seats at Legion Field to the Southern Miss game. Drove over from ATL, had a room at the Tutwiler, everything.

I stayed until the water cascading DOWN THE STANDS poured into my shoes. There was literally a 2-3" deep waterfall.... When I got to the hotel they actually called up to my room after I got there to ask if I needed to use their dryer to dry my clothes....

The 94 Ole Miss game was the scariest though - I seem to remember lightning hitting the radio tower on top of the communications building and knocking out the TV broadcast temporarily.
