I think he is entertaining. He tells it like it is. If you take him for what he is, entertainment, it is a very good show. Most of what he says is tongue-in-cheek, knowing he will get a rise out of someone. He has actually mellowed since his days at the Post-herald. I think a lot of people still hold a grudge against him from his early days. Thoughts? :)

When Finebaum is interviewing, I like to listen. He gets good people on and asks them good questions. I don't like it as much when the "regulars" call in, as Finebaum just starts saying whatever is needed to rile up the masses. I know that's his schtick, but it gets old.

It was a lot of fun listening to him the week after the Florida game, because it was clear that he was so stunned by the blowout, he was at a loss for words.

That was funny.....

:) :) :) There is just nothing else in North Alabama to listen to except the big dog on the ump. Finebaum makes a lot of his usuals sound foolish however. The only problem is sometimes he defends them. I guess it just depends on what mood he is in.......

I occasionally read his articles if they're linked on Tidefans. I have only listened to his show once, when Gallion was on it. I found it to be pretty boring and have never tuned in again. I guess he has a polarizing effect if you're into talk radio but he's a non-issue to me. I don't care what aubies think of Alabama football, nor do I care what Finebaum thinks. My opinions of Alabama football were formed shortly after birth and the radio talking heads will have no influence now, almost 50 years later.

Boring? Can I ask what other radio shows you listen to regularly?

If I'm in my car alone, I am listening to an AM radio show somewhere. Many many have their problems with the content on Finebaum but I have never heard anyone
claim the show is boring. :)

Actually, Finebaum doesn't annoy me nearly as much as Neal Vickers.
You've got that right. Vickers starts talking and I change stations. He's a complete moron on virtually every subject that he decides to comment in on. Vickers has never, ever made it through a newscast without stumbiling all over himself and then he wants to criticize others for the way they do their jobs? LOL!

I wonder if Paul knows how many listeners he loses because of Vickers. Finebaum's ratings are pretty good, but he would dominate if he got rid of Vickers.

I listen to the post-game show on the way home after Bama games. That's the extent of "talk-show" radio for me. I listen to the radio for music. If they start talking too much on the radio station I put on a CD. Not saying that Finebaum is good or bad, just not my cup of tea.

I listen to Finebaum everyday. I really like the show and for the most part his guests are really good. Since the beginning of the year he has been tearing Auburn apart and taking up for Alabama and Coach Shula. I figured he would have been all over Shula after Prothro got hurt but he took Shula's side.. I love tuning into his show on Monday after Alabama has won..

I listen to PF everyday and I enjoy it. Actually, he's like a lot of fans. If Bama is down, he is all over the coach and the program and will make fun everything about Bama. If AU is up at the same time, he will just twist the knife in the Bama fans. But if Bama is up, like now, you will find that he switches his allegience and will really start to rag the AU fans. He has really been giving it to the AU fans for a few weeks now, which is quite funny. Bama was just bad for so long that many fans developed a hatred for him b/c he wouldn't get off of them. If all you guys that hate him would listen now, I bet you would enjoy it.

Finebaum is no dummy. but he sure knows how to aggravate dummies. His livihood depends on creating turmoil and controversy and he's dadgum good at it. His style sells newspaper and generates ratings. A steady diet of pablum would quickly drive him into another line of work because editors and station managers can find those kind of writers/talkshow hosts on just about any street corner. He knows he has job security if he cruises the message boards and sees his name plastered all over them.

Well, you're half right. He has been on auburn all year, but he gave Shula absolutely no respect until after the Florida game. He did say a few good things about Shula after USC, but only begrudgingly.
