I know we are all engulfed in the coaching situation, but what is the lastest on Prothro? Is he gonna be able to go in the spring?

I'm thinking his situation is going to turn out about like A.C. Carter. He'll suit up and go on the field and just stay out of the action for a couple of plays. I would love to see him back in the action, but after seeing him bringing the ball out at the Auburn game, it does not look very good.

RTR forever!

Yeah but you to admit...seeing him barely run out to the middle of the field made me proud to be a bama fan.

Yeah that was great watching him and hearing the crowd roar. That was the highlight of the Iron Bowl this year.

RTR forever!

Yup. I wish someone had brought a camera to the game and recorded him bringing out the ball. I've even looked on youtube and couldnt find it :(

After watching him bring the game ball out vs. Auburn, I would be surprised if he plays ever again, or at least not until the 2008 season. His health is most important, blowing out all 3 knee ligaments would have been a less damaging injury, that was gruesome and a major, major injury that will take a very long time to heal, if ever truly healed, and even then he may not be able to play competitively at such a high level again.

Bamafan in NY, that is a stupid comment, NY must be getting to you. When should they have pulled him out of the game exactly? That was the biggest and best win for Bama in the last 4 or 5 years and a freak injury occurs late to a great player trying his hardest and you rip the coach for it? That injury could just have easily come on the first play vs. some scrub non-conference team.

It's not like at that stage he was Dwayne Jarrett or Calvin Johnson, he was a young player that still needed as much PT as he could get and he was performing very, very well and at a high level vs. a great team and was one of, if not THE main reason the O was so good up to that point.

There may (or may not) have been many good reasons to can Shula, prothro getting injured late vs. Florida had nothing to do with it (other than maybe the fact the O did change a lot with his absence, but it was still a freak thing that can happen to any player on any play).

Who is Les Fowler? isnt there a top of the line sports medicine complex down there in tuscaloosa (i went there for knee injury while playing for hillcrest high back in 93)

Les Fowler was the team surgeon who operated on Prothro. I wasn't sure when he performed the surgery how allowed Prothro to become infected with staph. Could renowned sports medicine specialist James Andrews have performed this operation? He has worked on people like Drew Brees. He helped him recover from the shoulder injury and look what kind of year he is having.

RTR forever!

Les Fowler is the team physician. When Tyler Watts and Brodie Croyle injured their knees, their fathers made it clear in no uncertain terms that they were to be treated by Jim Andrews.

According to Lyle Cain the reason Fowler operated instead of Andrews was that the tibia and fibia and whatever else were supposedly Fowler's specialties. I think that he should be dropped from the staff.

It was great to watch Prothro come onto the field with the game ball for the Iron Bowl. I love the kid, but at the same time it was somewhat disheartening because he was trying so hard to jogg and could not even do that. I hope and pray that God will help him overcome this injury and play at half the level he played at last year.

He goes to most of the home basketball games and sits in the corner behind the Alabama bench. I've noticed that he does not have trouble walking around at Coleman Coliseum like he did when he brought out the game ball.
