now I am hearing that Bama is offereing Jimbo some major money to go to the Capstone. Bama is turning into the New York Yankees.
No, we're just flexing some muscle...something that should have been done LONG ago but HAS to be done now.

If Nick can not pursuade his former Off Coordinator to come win championships with him is that considered his first lost.

I can not believe a man of Nicks reputation can not convince Jimbo to join the WOW generation

The man knows what to expect. He knows it's hard working for the man but he also knows what Nick turns over to him in an offense. 50/50 chance here.

This is going around tonight. In addition, expect Saerles to join Fisher in T-town, if Fisher chooses T-town; otherwise, Searles might be going to Georgia where he interviewed today.
Yes, I've heard that Searles was in Athens and will be in Tuscaloosa today. And as others have posted, I've heard the big amounts supposedly being offered to the coordinators and 3 year contracts, yada, yada. And Jimbo and Trickett are big buddies and are headed to FSU and the only thing holding it back or sorta messing it up is the fact that Andrews has been there for 20+ years and is making in the $200K range and now they're gonna throw this money at Jimbo an Trickett. We've seen the cash wars, but now we're seeing it on the home front, the arms race has entered a new era.

FSU has nobody to blame but themselves. They have been lowballing coaches for years with Diddy bringing home the bacon. They should have known it would catch up to them sometime soon.

"and BTW, the BOT's did not cost Fisher the UAB job."

I disgaree 100% - The BOTs completely blocked the UAB-Jimbo hire

Now tell me whay I am wrong ;)

seriously I fully beleive the BOTs prevented that hire for Bama purposes.

-----------
Since UAB chose to 'lay off' american citizens who had worked there 14-15 years like myself in order to hire non US citizens from India.....then I am all for the BOTs blocking it. I was replaced by people from India who did not even have a green card at the time. The people from India are really good people and I have nothing against them.

Choose to believe the media reports if you wish... just remember that many of them predicted SS to Bama and has provided bogus info this whole process. I also would say that some things are better left unsaid... especially on a forum board for the public to see.

really? that's not much more than Fisher makes at LSU. What I heard was that it was closer to 1 million, but 600,000 sounds more reasonable. Supposedly FSU offered him 800,000 to be OC. We shall see how this plays out.
Unless I am way off base, the figure is closer to 500,000-600,000... and I do not think that the Noles would counter with 800,000... their history of being tight with assistant pay is well-documented. I tend to believe the toughest thing that JF is considering is which job will help him get to a HC job fastest. There are, unfortunately, good arguments for both sides in that comparison.

Speaking of black helicopters: why is everyone reluctant to tell us the real reason the interview was 'nixed' -

Somethings should be kept secret this is not one of them. I don't believe teh media I am using my own thinking - it makes complete sense.

C'mon ya'll are just saying that was not the case but you have offered nothing to support what you are saying.

I think it is OK for the BOT to look after the football program like Alabama even if it means prohibiting a hire or whatever

I am not against it and personally I hope they did cause it is the right thing to do.

no offense to UAB athletic supporters ;)

From what I have been told it was simply a financial decision. Yes, there were UAB boosters willing to help pay, but did not want to sign contracts just have it on good faith.
The problem with that is if they decided in a year that they did not want to pay anymore then the University is still held accountable to pay that money. With UAB's football program already being in the hole it was a move they could not risk. The BOT refused to wind up being held accountable for 600,000 plus in salary for a program losing money like that.

The Black helicopter theory would work except for the fact that CMD makes pretty close to CMG if I'm not mistaken. If the BOT really wanted to destroy UAB they could all the way around.

Using your logic, you've offered no evidence of the BOT's involvement, only that you feel it's believable...

If we feel it's believable that they weren't involved, then we're in the same position you're in. We would all do well to form our opinions based on facts from the outset, and not just with tiny football matters, but I digress.

Truth is, there are some folks out there (I'm certainly not one of them) who actually have some knowledge about these things...to remain classy and trustworthy they won't publicly post their knowledge. I think it's only fair we respect that.
