Why is it that everyone think the BOT just sit around and talk about Alabama football all day long? Most of these people could care less about football...and even sports for that matter. The BOT is in charge of making much bigger decisions...trust me. Granted...the hiring of Nick Saban is the most important they have made this year...all 5 days of it...but they do a lot more than talk sports. This has already been hashed out a million times...I just wanted to remind everyone that the BOT is not made up of a bunch of UA grads who hate UAB.

Unless I am way off base, the figure is closer to 500,000-600,000... and I do not think that the Noles would counter with 800,000... their history of being tight with assistant pay is well-documented. I tend to believe the toughest thing that JF is considering is which job will help him get to a HC job fastest. There are, unfortunately, good arguments for both sides in that comparison.
Unless Joe Pa dies in the near future, Nick Saban will retire before Diddy. The fast track to an HC job will be at Bama.

Wanna know something funnier? Then JF at Bama will make more than the HC at Boise State. I suppose if we miss on JF, we can go after CP.

From what I have been told it was simply a financial decision. Yes, there were UAB boosters willing to help pay, but did not want to sign contracts just have it on good faith.
The problem with that is if they decided in a year that they did not want to pay anymore then the University is still held accountable to pay that money. With UAB's football program already being in the hole it was a move they could not risk. The BOT refused to wind up being held accountable for 600,000 plus in salary for a program losing money like that.

The Black helicopter theory would work except for the fact that CMD makes pretty close to CMG if I'm not mistaken. If the BOT really wanted to destroy UAB they could all the way around.

Exactly. That is a big part of it and also Fisher wasn't going to UAB for $600,000. He was wanting $750,000 which is what the new coach at La Tech is getting. Do you think that the La Tech coach is worth more than Fisher?

If Nick can not pursuade his former Off Coordinator to come win championships with him is that considered his first lost.

I can not believe a man of Nicks reputation can not convince Jimbo to join the WOW generation
Are you Bad Luck Schleprock? Negative, negative, negative.

now I am hearing that Bama is offereing Jimbo some major money to go to the Capstone. Bama is turning into the New York Yankees.
Wow and the media wanted people to believe that Bama was irrelevant, Now we are being compared to the most successful MLB team in history if not the best team in sports history.

Re: What is the latest on Jimbo?

Nah, he may very well have taken the job, but I know we are trying him too, so I'd just wait until you hear something you can hold on to, that's all.

We should know something by tomorrow, I think we still have a shot FWIW
Does anyone know if FSU or Bama have a deadline for Fisher's decision? Today is officially tomorrow-yesterday so will we definitely hear something today?

Scott Griffin spoke to Jimbo in Airport - Said he would decide this weekend- He did not say whether he would decide between Al. or FSU or stay at LSU

If we get him, great. If not, that's fine too. We have Saban and that's all I care about. He'll surround himself with a great staff whether or not that includes Fisher.

How quickly we forget that Cutcliffe along with his fat arse boss testified against Alabama, no Cutcliffe ever at Alabama. Just hope the brain trust in Knoxville are stupid enough to hand over the HC job to him when Fulmer retires.

Yeah it's puzzling as to why so many people keep bringing up Cutcliffe as a potential hire at Alabama. He may be from Alabama, but I have to imagine it will be a cold day in Hades before he ever gets a chance to coach at the University of Alabama!

Maybe people don't know he testified against us. If it's true he should never coach here. I hadn't heard that until i read the post from graytide.
