What Is Your Favorite Alabama Moment or Play?

Well, I share many of the same favorites with most of y'all, but here is one that still chokes me up.

As most of you know, Siran Stacy lost his wife and four of his children in a motor vehicle crash the night before Thanksgiving a few years ago. He brought out the game ball for The Iron Bowl in 2008 and got really emotional and fired up on the field. It was wonderful to see him able to experience a little joy after what a horrible year of grief he had been through.

I agree with all of the favorite moments of the previous posts. I also favor the 1999 SEC Championship game against Florida. Freddie Millons run with the help of a block by Tyler Watts. Jarrett Johnson's deflection which fell into the hands of Reggie Grimes, and Grimes taking it back for 6 and trying to jump into the stands! Shaun Alexander met him at the side of the endzone. The PAT was no-good and the commentator said,"Who needs it!" And to put the finishing touch on the game, Steve Spurrier, with his visor already thrown, crouched over and stopped the first tear from leaving his eye.

Also, the 2009 Iron Bowl showed the true colors of the Crimson Tide nation. Though trailing the entire game, and Ingram being shut down, the team rallied and McElroy earned his stripes by staying composed and taking the offense down the field. One of the greatest moments I've ever witnessed was Roy Upchurch coming free out of the backfield and capped off an amazing regular season.

One of *my* favorite Bama moments is breaking a bleacher in Tiger Stadium while singing Rammer Jammer after the OT win in 2008. "We just beat the..*crash*..." Kinda scary at the time, but one of those you laugh about later.

Also being in the Georgia Dome and realizing WE were going to Pasadena. Words can't describe.

Jay Barker to Toderick Malone for a 55 yard touchdown strike in the 1994 Iron Bowl, also known as Attitude Adjustment!

Certainly one of my favorites was Coach Bryant tipping his hat to the defense in the 1981 Penn State game. 'Bama stopped PSU (who featured Todd Blackledge & Curt Warner on offense) seven or eight times inside the 5 on a single drive to basically put the game away.

I remember that feeling....awe....pride....and no time to savor it for having to get on the computer to book flights at the Westin (there was a waiting line for the computers too)! My "only" NC game to attend to date...and hopefully it's the first of many more to come! It ranks right on up there with the wedding and the babies folks...

You have all made mention of lots of moments on the football field that are some of my favorites also. For real though, one of my favorite moments that will always be huge in my book will be when I saw that plane touch down with Nick Saban on board. I had listened to all hoopla about Spurrier considering leaving South Carolina for Tuscaloosa. Then the Rich Rod deal, which I was nervous about. And all the talk about no way is Saban going to leave an NFL gig to go back to a college job, but most certainly not to Alabama. All the fun the ESPN talking heads had with us on that point is something I still can bristle up about. But when it happened, our Southeastern foes all denied it would make any difference to them. No matter how many times Tubbs and Fat Phil said that, they didn’t really believe what they were saying. The most storied institution had just hit a homerun in football with the hiring of a championship coach that any other university would have loved to have got to lead their program. And in reality they knew that day their days were probably numbered now in this conference. It was a very good day indeed. :)

I'm fairly young (31) compared to many on this board, but still have a hard time. Maybe Shaun's TD to beat Flarduh in The Swamp in 99. One of them has to be Javy's INT last year agaist Flarduh in the SECCG. Uuuuuummm...Doyle's kick to beat UT in 90. Stacy's pumping up the crowd in 08 at BDS... Too many to pick just one. I did like the TD pass TO Andre Smith in the bowl game a few years ago. Roll Tide!!!

I get to see Alabama football in a pretty neat way, and I've had some amazing moments... Y'all can probably guess most of them, but this is one I don't think I've shared here:

Last year at Auburn, they were seating the front half of the band which meant that we (the piccolos, always in the back) were at a complete stop in the tunnels of Jordan Hare... All of the sudden, a door opens and we realize we are in the tunnel next to the visitor's locker room. Out come McElroy, Jones, Ingram, Richardson, Arenas, and the rest of our then soon-to-be National Champions. It was amazing!!

Alexander winning the game in OT in the Swamp in 1999 with an off-tackle run on the first play.

Prothro's helmet catch.

Mal Moore's plane landing in Miami in December 2006.

I've witnessed a lot of great Bama games live, including the 1990 UT game and the 1993 Sugar Bowl win over Miami, but these three stand out.

1985 Bama - UGA: Shula to Bell, TD. I was there with my Dad and my two brothers, we were sitting in the middle of the UGA section. Bama dominated game but only lead 13-9 with a minute or so left. UGA blocked the punt and rolled the ball into the endzone for a TD. UGA fans went nuts thinking they had won the game. Well Shula, Richardson, and Bell went to work...Shula was brilliant, evnetually hitting Bell for the winning TD.

1984 Bama - auburn: Beleive it or not the only Bama-auburn game I've seen live. A losing season for Bama, but the upset of auburn was "sweeter than Sugar" as it knocked the tiggers out of the Sugar Bowl, and the goal line stand when Bo ran the wrong way was priceless.

1994 Bama - UGA: Not a single moment, but that game was the most intense start-to-finish game I've ever attended. A great qb duel between Barker and Zeier.

Well, so many. where too start.
1.) listening on radio when we went to la and played sc and won. bama had come off several bad 6-5 years and we went to la with wishbone and beat sc.
2.) watching major ogalvie run thru tenn.
3.) having had the privalege of being at 2 national championship games-watching george teague rip ball from lamar thomas. - by far the greatest play i have ever seen. was at the 25 yard line of miami, torretta throws bullet with lamar in full sprint. 45 yards to go or 5 sec or less and touchdown. out of nowhere, like a bullet, in slow mo you see teague i guess around the 10 or 15 rip the ball out and start running the other way. unreal.
4.) being at 92 sec championship and seeing langham intercept for touchdown.
5.) goal line stand in penn state game.
6.) no particular play but the back to back games in the 70's against notre dame with richard todd. some great plays in those games.
7.) by far sitting in denny stadium watching the bear lean against the north goal post. i was a young boy and awe struck.
8.) the hundreds of bama friends i've watch games with over the years. so many plays i can't remember. jumping and shouting and yelling "ROLL TIDE"

Its an honor to be a BAMA fan.

I could watch this over, and over and over again. It never gets old.

Even though it got called back.:p

YouTube - Alabama's George Teague: "The Strip"

My 3 favorite plays/moments were:
1. the above
2. Coach Bryant coming to Bama to restore what had been lost for a few years.
3. Coach Saban coming to Bama " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " "
4. Julio Jones and Joe Willie coming to play for Bama
5. Lots of other plays since 1958

I forgot!

Tied for number # is Marcell Dareus' interception and TD run in the BCSNC game against the hated Longhorns.

You know Greg McElroy's tippy-toe run for a 1st Down in last year's SECCG against the gators.

You know! Really there are just tooooo many to list a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. now that I think about it.

At every game in Bryant-Denny. There is ELECTRICITY in the air on campus and in the stadium. The only game that I did not feel it was against Mississippi State in Shula's last year.

Maybe not an obvious choice, but Julio Jone's 73 yard TD to give Bama the 4th qtr lead against LSU in 2009. I was there with my wife. happened right in front of me  HU-LI-O! HU-LI-OH!
