Question: Where do we stand with Huntsville PG Trevor Lacey?

I was just checking out the Rivals 150 for 2011 and saw that Lacey (of Butler HS in Huntsville) is listed at No. 28 in the nation. I was wondering where we stood with him.

I noticed that TiderinArk said in another thread that Lacey quite possibly might leave the state.

Thanks ...

I don't have any inside info, but I've seen articles where he'll list 5 or 6 schools and make no mention of us or the barn (for those worried he may choose them over us). When asked about Alabama has said that we are putting on the full court press in recruiting him. Some Memphis fans think it will be between us and Memphis.

Thanks for the info!

on the espn website, under on the trail features, it says lacey is considering Tennessee, Kentucky, Bama, Ole Miss, and Memphis......in my opinion i think it's down to Bama, Kentucky, and Memphis from what i hear from kids that play against and with him.

I was just guessing really. Unfortunately with basketball recruiting its really a guessing game much more than football recruiting, just because of a lack of information.

One thing though is that if we do sign Lacey then I would think that would have to be pretty much it for perimeter players.

I'm going to assume that the info I got when I googled is correct and that you can sign as many as 6 scholarship players in a year and have as many as 13 on roster.

I see right now that we'd have 8 scholarship players coming back for the 2011-2012 season (and I know we could have less as a result of a number of different factors but this is the most I can see right now) and that would be: Jamychal Green, Andrew Steele, Tony Mitchell, Ben Eblen, Trevor Releford, Jason Carter, Charles Hankerson, and Kendall Durant.

So we could take 5 if all those guys are still here, 6 if something happens to one of them. If we take 5 I would think we would have to take two big men as we only would have two true big men on the roster (Jamychal, Jason Carter) so that would be it for the class, Lacey, Randolph, Cooper, and two big men.

Some might say we need three big men more than Lacey.

One thing that really helps us with Lacey is that he plays on the same AAU team-Alabama Challenge- as Levi Randolph and Rodney Cooper. We'll see what happens.

Trevor plays for the Atlanta Celtics now. I have heard that right now it is between us and Memphis. His high school coach, Jack Doss, is a huge Bama fan so that can only help.

Well, darn. I was going off his facebook picture. He's wearing an Alabama Challenge t-shirt.

as far as i know he still plays with the challenge....and going by that facebook picture with his challenge sweat shirt on, that lanierd he is wearing says alabama basketball....so maybe CAG already has him in his sights and is closing the door on the competition to sign trevor.

Got this off a UK board.

Huntsville (Ala.) Butler guard Trevor Lacey, the reigning Alabama Mr. Basketball, said, "I guess you could say that" when asked if UK was the favorite on his list.
"They have the top two players in my class but neither one plays my position," Lacey said. "They are still looking for a shooting guard, so if no one else commits before I make my final decision that’s probably where I will be going to school."

He doesn't sound too concerned about that slot being there or not.
