Saban would have found a way to dominate this era just like every other era. The sport will miss him, even if they are celebrating his retirement. What we are left with, at the coaching level, is vastly inferior.
Saban was due for a 9-3 or 8-4 season in the coming years. His staffs were becoming more and more recruiting services and less of coaching staffs. We were missing out on key players in recruiting especially on the defensive line. Last year was a gift in which we probably didn’t deserve but got because alot of things went perfectly right. I don’t know if we could realistically have expected a continuation in the new era because things were increasingly going against him.
