Who is your preferred opponent in SEC championship

Getting the feeling we are going to miss the stinking playoff again this year. Auburn is going to be a tough out but even if we make it to the SECCG not sure we have the gas in the tank to win it over yet another top notch, ranked SEC opponent. I hope we do but, even if so, not sure we have the dudes for a deep run into the playoffs after such a brutal regular season gauntlet. I think our starters are worn out mentally and physically. Hard to peak at the end of the season after the schedule we have faced man.

I think we drop to 9 or 10 in the polls. I am not confident that we beat Auburn but hopefully the players are. lol.
I think OU will beat both LSU and Mizzou since both are home games for them. At least UGA put Texas out of the playoffs. I'm ready for a 16 team playoff now! lol
Yeh, the Iron Bowl is the Super Bowl for the boogs. They have essentially three weeks to prepare for us. No doubt in my mind that we will see a completely different offense for that game and defensive stuff like we saw last night from OU...

The Allstate predicter (ESPN's model) has us as an 84% currently. Beat Auburn and that number shoots up 96% even with a loss in the SECCG. Interestingly enough it has us at a 76% chance of hosting a playoff game under that specific scenario. I think that is probably the truth of what is going to happen. Maybe the hosting a home game may be a stretch but I think if we have 3 losses and that third is in the championship game then it is going to be difficult to justify a Big XII team sitting at home to be over us. Especially with our win over Georgia.

Again playoffs are weird.... You get in then all of the sudden you get new life and stretch your season. ND and Ohio St being in the final and Texas getting to the semis was something few really saw happening at the end of the season.

I don't give a rip about the playoffs right now. Beat Auburn, win the game before with no injuries.

See where things are at that point and let the chips fall where they may.

Get to 10-2.

But for the love of football, please sit Jam. The kid is off, he's hurt or just not back to himself.

We aren't winning a championship this year unless we win the SEC. But just finish 10-2...if we don't get in the SECCG we would at least be in the playoff with a road game i suppose.

For me the issue is how many games we're required to play to get to the national championship. The fewer, the better.

It seems to me the worst-case scenario is if we're not ranked high enough to get the auto-bye in the playoffs, but still must play in the SECCG. If we somehow sneak into the SECCG - and lose - we're a 3-loss team and I seriously doubt the CFP committee would allow a 3-loss team to be ranked in the top 4. But we might make it into the 12-team playoff.

At this point it seems to me better to not make the SECCG, but make the playoff field. We must win our next 2 games of course, or all this is moot. Of course, it'd be much better if we had beaten OK, but that ship has sailed.

We are getting in if we are a 3 loss SEC runner up.

No, we’re not. My hope is to make the playoffs this year, which means getting past the barn for starters. And that’s far from a gimme at this point. If we get into the playoffs, we may win one round, depending on the matchup.

Hopefully we can make some needed coaching changes during the offseason then build on this season’s progress for a better outcome next year.

Maybe, maybe not but at least I hope we get a chance this year to get in the playoffs. The path is pretty clear, beat the barn and win the SEC.

Yeah it’s basically this imo:

11-2 SEC Champs 100% in obviously

10-2 Beat AU but miss the SECCG which I think is mathematically possible.. 100% in

9-3 lose to AU is a wrap… straight cooked.

10-3 Beat AU and make the SECCG but lose to most likely A&M… maybe a 15-20% chance of making it but that’s heavily dependent on massive chaos around us.

There are still a couple of quirky scenarios that could bump us out of the SECCG but if both Tennessee & Vandy win this weekend and we beat Auburn we are in vs either TAMU or UGA

Every year is different but the committee told us last year with SMU that the CG loss will not keep you out.

Every year they lie through their teeth and contradict themselves.

Last year in the build up to the final selection they falsely gave people hope of putting Bama in and didn’t.

Then the team got shipped off to a lower tier bowl vs a .500 team.

If we pick up a 3rd loss it’s much much more likely they leave us out than put us in barring massive chaos.

We are in competition now with way too many other 2 loss teams as it is.

A third loss will bump us down hard.

People are imo putting way too much faith in the Committee and wish casting.

They are not trustworthy.

these tiebreakers are confusing.

So UGA is essentially a lock for the SEC championship based on what im seeing above? if the season ended today it would be UGA vs TAMU?

Honestly asking

Every year is different but the committee told us last year with SMU that the CG loss will not keep you out.

The problem, though, is they can make up their own rules on the spot and decide "Rule A trumps Rule B" any time they want to do so.

SMU got their second loss last year in the ACC title game, but then they can turn around and say, "But two losses isn't three" if they want to do so.

Someone mentioned having faith. I had faith in us following the Tennessee win. It seemed, to me, that we were improving. The South Carolina and OU games convinced me otherwise.

If Auburn plays the way they did against Vanderbilt (even though they lost) we will not only lose to Auburn, we will get embarrassed.

But, I have seen bizarre things happen over the decades, so while I don't have faith, I do have hope that Deboar and the players can use this weekend's game to make the necessary preparations.

Also, I would prefer to miss the SEC Championship. In fact, I think it needs to be done away with.
