I’m with you. I’m just the limited video of him, the ball jumps out of his hand better than Mack.I think Russell beats out Mack for Number 2
Totally a possibility and I agree!I voted for TS to start. I think it's his time and he'll take advantage of the opportunity.
But, I only want him to start if he's the best QB in the room. Not to rehash what happened with the last QB, but CKD knows he's got to have the most capable QB under center and I firmly believe whoever trots out there next fall will be the one the staff believes gives us the best chance to win next year!
I will join the chorus and say I think KR will not sit by idly and accept he's not the one. He'll push the entire room. I think he's going to be our next phenom QB. And, if TS stumbles just a little, he's got the kind of talent to make an argument for himself.
Mack is not sitting around either, but I'll be pretty surprised if KR isn't the #2 on the DC next year.
And if the reporting of him adding 15 pounds is close to accurate that means he's not sitting around preparing for a year or two later to make a mark.
Yes, the videos I've seen show a smooth, pure passer.I’m with you. I’m just the limited video of him, the ball jumps out of his hand better than Mack.
Yes to PT for all!I think Ty will start. I hope all 3 look good enough to win the big games and will stay injury free. Not sure who the backup will be , probably Keelon.
It would be nice to have such a big lead in some games that all 3 get some playing time.
Peyton didn't have great mechanics and he wasn't the most athletic QB I've ever seen, but he was a great leader and a fierce competitor. Also very "football smart."Yes, the videos I've seen show a smooth, pure passer.
Some GREAT QBs didn't have smooth throwing motions. I never thought Peyton Manning had a beautiful throwing motion, for instance, but he got results.
But Keelon's motion looks like butter sliding down a hot biscuit. So effortless!
Tua was the exception for a lot of reasons. He walked onto campus light years ahead of everyone else in the QB room as a passer, and we had 4 first round WRs, and 2 other NFL level receivers who needed the ball distributed to them. Hurts was having trouble doing that at that point in his development so the door was open.Yes to PT for all!
I never understood why CNS didn't do this more. It's a big reason for the lack of QB development after BY, IMO. Remember how much Tua played the year he backed up Jalen in '17?
I voted Ty, but there must have been something the coaching staff saw in practice that led them to not play him much. Simpson does not have as much experience with the full playbook in SEC competition as I would like.Totally a possibility and I agree!
Best case scenario for the QB room, IMO: TS balls out and has a GREAT year and goes into the draft next spring. In the mean time, Mack and Keelon battle it out to see which one of them is ready for a 2-3 year run as our next great QB.Starter: Ty Simpson
Backup: Austin Mack/Keelon Russell
I am rooting for Ty to win the the starting job and for Keelon to develop and be the starter for the next couple of years after that.
I would say we're already there. Has TS had any meaningful playing time - other than the USF fiasco in 2023?I voted Ty, but there must have been something the coaching staff saw in practice that led them to not play him much. Simpson does not have as much experience with the full playbook in SEC competition as I would like.
I do wish the staff would get the backups more snaps because we are now one snap away from a QB with virtually no experience. (God forbid, Simpson gets hurt, but if he does, we will be QBed by a very inexperienced player.
Ty does not have a lot of experience, but he does have some.I would say we're already there. Has TS had any meaningful playing time - other than the USF fiasco in 2023?

After the recent "hand size" of JM, I looked it up and Tua's had measures 10.0 inches. He's near the top of the league. No wonder he spins it so beautifully.Tua was the exception for a lot of reasons. The thing I've noticed about TS's limited playing time when he got the chance is that he made the simple throws accurately, which is what our other QB, who shall not be named, could NOT do consistently.Ty does not have a lot of experience, but he does have some.
He made a great run and then dropped the ball right before scoring a touchdown against Tennessee two years ago, so I know he was in that one.
Most games he played with a great lead and limited clock and coach wanted to take the air out of the game so Bama ran a lot.

Can we not have this devolve into another JM thread? Let's get over it please! After the recent "hand size" of JM, I looked it up and Tua's had measures 10.0 inches. He's near the top of the league. No wonder he spins it so beautifully.
FWIW, just out of curiosity, I measured my hands using the same method the NFL uses. I already knew they weren't big enough to ball a regulation size basketball unless it's real tacky. But I measured at 8.5 inches, which, according to a couple of articles I've read recently, is the exact average.
That was really about Tua, but what caused it to be on my mind is what happened with Jalen, which was not negative toward him.Can we not have this devolve into another JM thread? Let's get over it please!
