Why all the hate for the Manning family?

Well I'm sure Archie, Petyon or Eli has never said much good about Alabama but then again I've never said much good about Ole Miss or UT either. But I don't expect anyone to not like me because of something I HAVEN'T SAID.

I'm sure they don't like Alabama but they've had enough class just to not say anything rather than do like a lot of journalist and others and publicly bash the crap out of us.

It's called "Capitalism and economics" (I'm sure Bodhi will agree!). Skilled labor can often make a choice in job selection. Elway did it, and so can Eli!
NFL is a monopoly, not a free market, so I'm sure Bodhi would understand how market forces are not the same as simply skilled labor switching jobs. The draft is there to distribute talent fairly across the league, not cater to one player feeling he is more important than the game. As a Bama fan that is something we have always stressed-TEAM over individual selfishness.

As for Elway, a lot of people hated him for years for how he handled his draft. It is only lately after he won the sympathy vote for getting a ring in his twilight years that people actually started to like him.

for the record i don't really care about eli one way or another. but i don't like players dictating to the NFL where they should go and I hate rookie holdouts... but thats a different topic.

Why I dislike the Mannings.

As a Bama fan, I am accustomed to being the footstool of the media's hate bias. The Mannings are media darlings and can do no wrong. I've watched Archie denigrate Bama many times during his turns as a commentator.

Many of the people I've listened to over this season when discussing pro-FB, talk about the 'cockiness' of the Patriots. The Patriots pale in comparison to the Mannings.

Having said all that, yes, they are pretty darn good QBs. I am just tired of them.

Does Peyton remind anyone else of the buzzard from Looney Tunes?

I've watched him on the half time shows with Brando and Tillman I cannot recall one time where he's taken a shot at Bama. Again, I'm sure him nor his sons like Bama but I've yet to hear any of them publicly take shots at Bama.

I've never had much love for the Mannings. It mostly comes from their college days. However, I've started to like Peyton more in the NFL, but just have never really liked Eli, college or pro.

The one about Peyton leading the band and rubbing his goose in a female trainer's face? The leading the band doesn't bother me. It's a big deal to beat Bama just like it is a big deal to beat UT. They could say the same thing about us singing Rammer Jammer. How classless could that be perceived from another fanbase?

In regards to the trainer incident. Where did the information come from that confirmed he paid her off to make it go away? Or confirmed that anything the young lady said was true? I'm not saying it couldn't or didn't happen. But in light of the Duke Lacrosse players people will do or say anything.

i thought the atomic situp incident with peyton is fact. my recollection is that he admitted to it. that being said, it was just a college prank so i wont hold that over him too much. him playing for tenn also is a huge negative for him.

peytie pie- i don't like him, but don't "hate" him
eli- don't care, but overall negative bc of the draft
archie- never saw him play, doesnt really matter on any level to me

It really turned me off when Peyton led the band in Rocky Top after they whipped us. Someone mentioned that it happened at Legion Field, but I was thinking he did that at Bryant Denny. It is one thing to do that in Knoxville, it just takes on a different meaning when someone does it on a visiting field. Anyway, it took me a while to forget about that caper. I finally realized that kids sometimes do crazy things. You may recall when Payton mooned a female trainer after a game in Knoxville. Not a class act, but the reporter and the rest of the world got over it. I'm sure Phat Phil stepped in, investigated, and ran intereference for Peyton's young fanny. Problem solved.

With respect to the Manning family, I can't recall any outright verbal attacks on us. True, they haven't been complimentary, but you have to remember that, for years, we ripped their tails on the gridiron. I'm sure they got disgusted with it, so you can't expect them to be supportive of our football program.

Whatever! Shaud Williams leading the fans in "Rammer Jammer" down in Baton Rouge a few years ago remains a favorite memory of almost any Bama fan who was in attendance. Not a single Alabama fan considered it classless at the time, we all ate it up.

I am neither a fan nor a detractor of the Mannings.

I don't care about them anymore, because we don't play them anymore.
I feel pretty much the same way you do. I don't hate them but I certainly don't pull for them to win because both did play for the enemy while in college. However, I do respect them because they are both very talented players.

I reserve my "hate" for all things Auburn.

I don't know any of the Mannings personally, and what is shown in the media is usually skewed and can't be trusted, so since I don't personally have an ounce of personal experience with them I'll just sit back and respect what they've done and are doing for the game of football.

I'm sorry, but that was a gutsy performance by the Giants last night. They played inspired football and Eli made the plays he needed to make when he needed to make them. He could have the personality of a porcupine and still be entitled to respect for that.

I don't care one way or the other. PM led the band in Rocky Top did tick me off, but I might have done the same or something similar in that situation myself if I was QB at Bama and we beat UT. That said, you have to like a guy that made commercials that made fun of himself...you know the ones where he was stalking the waiter and asked for his apron. Pretty funny in my book.

My only wish is that all 3 of the Manning brothers have nothing but healthy daughters!:biggrin2:

I don't know, maybe I am jealous of both of them for having canon arms but I have a pea shooter for an arm. maybe it is because they are giant men and I am a below averaged heighth humanoid..... I just don't like them.

There are some people that in their life, everything goes right for them..... that is how I see the Mannings.

I don't like em.
