Why Do Bama Fans Not Support UAB?

Let them support their own program

As a UAB graduate (92') I feel that I paid my way and I don't owe UAB squat. I don't support UAB athletics for these reasons.
1. Grew up an Alabama fan from day one
2. UAB has tried on numerous times to pin NCAA violations on Bama several times
3. Legion field is a dump now (Glad all home games are in T-Town)
4. Gene "Feaking" Bartow see reason 2
5. UAB fans have a chip on their shoulder "Why won't you play with us"
6. The football program has gotten money, my tax money, from the City of Birmingham.
7. Despite the loans they are still in the red. (Bad red not crimson)
8. I have been to one game. When they gave away 400,000 tickets on Ruben night and got 40,000 to show up. The atmosphere was a bore.
9. Why should we support their program? We don't cry for their support.
10. You just can't beat 100 plus years of tradition. Let UAB do it on their own or they can drop to the side of the road.

Why do Bama fans not support UAB fans?

3 letters - UAT

All the stupid UAB fans love to refer to Alabama as UAT (University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa).

I personally don't mind UAB in sports. What does irritate me is their snappy attitude about breaking away from the system and whining about the main campus. The Univ. of Alabama owns the UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA SCHOOL OF MEDICINE (located in downtown Birmingham) so they can gladly separate themselves from OUR medical school and form their own university if they wish. Otherwise I've got nothing against UAB. I love the city of Bham and want to see the whole area as well as the state prosper, thrive, and grow. I even support some sort of major BJCC sports/entertainment district expansion (not necessarily a football dome). I do get tired of them acting like the people who created the campus in the first place (THE University of Alabama) are being unfair to them when they are simply an extension of what was started in Tuscaloosa. Our medical school is sitting on their campus and provides a tremendous economic boost to the city. They should be thanking us for putting OUR medical school in town to create all those high paying jobs.
