Ok, before you think I've lost it - hear me out.

He has to know at this point he will never win more than 8-9 games a year at SC.
He hates Tennessee - a trait we all share.
He is a proven winner in the SEC.
He knows how to recruit. And kids know who he is.

We are already paying a boatload of money to Coach Shula, so you know Alabama can afford Spurrier. And Spurrier would have to know that he could turn things around at Bama very quickly.

Just some thoughts to ponder...

Just a thread guys...don't freak out.

"Bama guys" aren't winning many ballgames, are they? They aren't getting high-profile recruits, are they?

Just saying maybe it's time to go after a winner.

lol... if a new coach was hired.. its been said on here it will almost certainly be a person not tied to the university.. and i dont care wut anyone says shula has recruited extremely well these last 3 years ..

pretty sure spurrier isn't the only "winner" out there... spurrier hates alabama btw...

Spurrier did everything that he could, including turning us in to the SEC several times for minor infractions, to bring us down while he was at Florida. I respect him as a coach, but think that he is a less than desirable human being...

not freaking out...just cringing at the thought of Spurrier wearing Crimson and White. By "Bama guy" I don't necessarily mean someone from Alabama. I mean the type of guy we want representing our University. He just doesn't fit the mold. He is our nemesis...an enemy...a rival...it IS time to go after a winner...but not that guy...I hope.

ohh and yet better... I would like to have ..... Bill Parcel .... as our offensive coordinator ... :p

Doesn't he have a ego equal to SOS? Although I haven't seen very much enthusiams out of him on the sidelines this year.

Even though I don't think Bama will be looking for a head coach in the near future, but Petrino or Saban would be my choice if and when there is a change at the top.

Personally, I'd rather have Bobby Petrino these days. Younger and probably as aggrerssive.

have you SEEN the Cowboys play this year?

I knowwwwwww... it's because of Owen... but when we have Spurrier as HC with Bill Parcel as OC and Lovie Smith as our DC... then we'll take it to the house and beat Croom in Starkville next year ......in overtime.... :biggrin2:

Actually, both Saban and Spurrier appear to have had facelifts, although coaching, respectively, at Miami and USC seem to be quickly re-aging them. At an earlier time, I'd have been delighted to have had CSS on the sideline, the past be damned. However, I don't really want to hire a coach in his sixties, despite the fact that I'll be 67 in another month...
