Still, you have to wonder why the NC wasn't more of a boost for us than it has been. It sure seems like Florida got more of a boost from their NC than we have. Don't get me wrong, I think we're fine regardless, but it's a bit of a buzz-killer to lose some ground after getting our title.
Florida is reaping the benefits of their 2008 national championship with this recruiting class. Most of the recruiting for the 2010 signing class was done when Alabama won the 2009 national championship. Not that there is anything wrong with the signing class we will officially get tomorrow because I think it's a great class, but I have no doubts that we see the rewards of the 2009 national championship in February of 2011.

I think we are at the point where we are definitely going to lose some recruits simply because of our depth chart. Other teams are pointing that out to recruits now telling them they don't want to go to Alabama because they will get lost in the shuffle. I remember last year U$C had a couple of signing day suprises that did not go in their favor. Florida had a couple of kids that decommitted last year. With the talent CNS has assembled, we are at that point I believe and really overall we have a fairly young football team. I remember reading one breakdown of the SEC championship this year and the writer said Florida would win because they have a veteran football team and Alabama was just too young. We have a ton of talent particularly in the freshman and sophomore classes.

One of the most important things to a lot of recruits is playing time. While CNS has certainly shown that he is not afraid to play true freshmen, I don't see where the playing time is there for a lot of kids like it was back in 2007 and 2008 although there will be times like 2010 when we are going to need some corners that just signed to step up and make a contribution immediately.

Actually, if you will recall Florida had a bit of a rough go with things in recruiting last year after the national championship. The days immediately prior to NSD and NSD itself didn't go overly well in Gainesville.

The real effect of a national championship has tended to show up in the class after the title, i.e. in 2011 for us.
Hmmm...maybe I am just looking at the world through crimson glasses. That's possible. Even if they did struggle toward the finish, they still netted 3 5-star recruits last class. I suspect the only reason they weren't ranked higher is because of their class size.

Again, I am not complaining about our class by any stretch. It's still a fantastic class that many other schools would be envious of. Our crop of DB's alone is amazing. It's just that NSD is just more fun when we finish strong. Granted, I'd rather get what we NEED than have the process be about my immediate gratification...

Everything I read up until today seemed so positive on Coleman. I will be disappointed if he doesn't roll with bama tomorrow.

Completely off topic, but I would like to thank TIDE-HSV for deleting BubbaOne's paragraph long, one sentence post. I wondered if I was the only one who was irritated by that! The (.), (?) and (!) are grammatical tools that should never be ignored! :)

Carry On and Roll Tide on Nick Saban Day!!

Even though a Coleman commitment is becoming evident, this is sort of like the Iron Bowl. Let them have hope up until the very end, and then rip their heart out at the last moment

Frankly, I'm happy with what we have. If we get Shon Coleman, it'll be gravy.
Ditto. I'm tickled to death with what we have on board now. If everyone we have committed signs tomorrow, I'll be completely content. Adding Coleman will be icing on the cake for me.

The only thing that worries me about Coleman is the commitment of Arie. As much of a concern as depth was for him in the first place, it only became that much worse with the news of Arie, so that might be the thing that pushes him away at the end.

Of course, Saban and company may very well have gotten Arie to go public tonight knowing good and well how everything was going to play out tomorrow, so who knows.

If he is making a switch, is there an announcement time set for tommorrow?
I'm not sure there has been anything definite. I do know there has been a tentative time of approximately 9:30 has been thrown out, but I don't know if that has ever been confirmed.
