This is a weird one: A couple were in a boat when an eagle ray leapt out of the water and hits the woman. The impact knocked the woman down, and she died of a head injury suffered when her head hit the deck.
Put a lifesize cardboard cutout of Tubbs in the prow of the boat; that oughta smoke them out. We're going fishing in the gulf for 3 days next month. Now I have to worry about these vicious killers. Thanks for the heads up.
This unfortunate woman was just in the wrong place at the right time. That ray had to have had a good bit of momentum to have leapt that far anyway. Anyone in its flight path would've been knocked over. She was unlucky enough to hit her head when she fell. Any good solid bonk on the head can be enough to kill ya dead if you hit it just so. If she'd not hit her head, she'd be alive today and she'd have a great story of how she was just minding her own business and a ray jumped out of the water and knocked her over on her arse.I've never heard of such. This had to have been a freak thing, as stingrays supposedly do not attack - they jump out of the water when they're threatened. I've been out fishing in the Keys on numerous occasions and can remember seeing a sting ray once, maybe twice .
Something tells me that if you had the Steve Irwin video, you'd post it about now...........??I'm sure the last thing she said was "Crikey!!!!"
