I'm not a betting man myself, but this week's line is crazy high. I wouldn't take FAU because we are likely to win big, but there is no guarantee that FAU won't collapse like Arky did, in which case, our backps still score a couple td's. Thorwing out a hypothetical line: if Vegas for some reason, had a line of 50 against LSU this season, would you take the points and bet "against" Bama?

I've only placed one bet in my life, but I might do it if Bama was favored by 60. I could still root for us comfortably with a line like that.

I would never bet against or for a team I had an emotional investment in, if I bet, which I don't. The last "gambling" I did was poker in college, but that was to earn extra money. They were gambling. I wasn't...

What would you do if Bama were up by 61 and FAU had a chance to kick a field goal to avoid a shutout and cover the line? I just don't think I could ever bet against my team.

Sure - now ask me about OSU.

I agree with TIDE-HSV about betting on/against teams that you love/hate.

I'm not a betting man, but if I were, it would depend on the type of bet.

If it's a straight up win/loss bet, then I wouldn't (because I expect Bama to win all of their games). If it were a spread bet, then I might try it because you're really betting against the spread and not your team.

I've made it plain numerous times that I don't gamble, and I would never "wager" against Bama in a head to head matchup. However, in the case of the weekly Pick'ems, where all picks are "against the spread" and there is no chance of winning or losing money, I might pick against them to cover the spread.
Otherwise, my betting against them just ain't gonna happen.

No, definitely not for/against Bama.

As said mentioned above, way too much emotional investment.
Likewise with the barn, who I honestly cannot stand.

If I were in Vegas during CFB season, I might put some money on a game I didn't care about but otherwise knew a fair amount about, like ND vs. UM tomorrow.
I do play poker from time to time, but it's only money that I'd spend for entertainment (seriously).
I might just as easily spend the money on a movie or a some new art supplies.

Ha, ha, I thought I was the only one praying on my fellow students to make ends meet.

The last time I put money on a game, I got on a football board at my Mother`s work in 1972...... had a 7 for an auburn square and a 6 for Bama`s.... Needless to say I won, but I would have gladly given that money back..... That is the last time I ever gambled on anything........ I was very sick after that game....

Reminds me of a great quote from W. C. Fields in a poker game:
Sucker: Is this a game of chance?
WC: Not the way I play it, no... :D
