Wow. Did not expect to look under prepared.

Look at it this way. Which one of our assistant coaches did a better job than his counterpart on the UT staff? Bo Davis schooled Bama on how to coach a DL. Heck, we know how good he is. But you can go on down the line…every position group. Saban’s desire for familiarity and longevity have weakened his objectivity.

I remember when our team always looked like the most prepared team, ready for any and all things that might occur during the course of a game. We haven't looked that way in any game against a team with a pulse in the last 3 seasons. I have no answers for this.
It is just my opinion but I think Saban has firmly entered the same place that Coach Bryant hit around 1980 where he is more of a tough grandfather figure that loves his kids so much and knows they will play better even though results on the field don't really show that. I also think that has a lot to do with Steele hiring as I suspect he is more interested in having guys he likes around now instead of a younger, more headstrong but more innovative defensive mind that he will occasionally clash with. It happens to everyone eventually. He can still recruit for Bama but I do think it is tougher for him now to push down hard on these kids when they mess up. I've suspected it for a couple of years now.
