WR Dorial Green-Beckham Updates

It's been pretty quiet on specifics recently but he is definitely a priority and not too long ago there were sources that said Bama leads. TIFWIW.

Re: What's the latest on Dorial-Green Beckham?

I don't have a good feeling about DGB. With Black and Gladney already committed and the rumors about Cooper committing I'm not sure how many more WR's we take but with a talent like DGB we will continue recruiting him hard.

Re: What's the latest on Dorial-Green Beckham?

The latest on DGB is just like it always is... he's playing the game and will do so until the very end. Perhaps even past the end as an NSD holdout.

Anything said about his recruitment is pretty irrelevant at this point.

got that feeling when i saw that Cooper may be soon to commit, that being said the staff has a addiction to recruiting WR's and won't give up on DGB just because we already have 3. Especially since DGB offers a much different set of skills than Black or Cooper, however if we land cooper I'd say this calss is more than solid at the position.

Bama has two WR commits, Black and Gladney. Early indications are that Gladney could possibly end up having qualifying issues. It remains to be seen whether or not that will be the case. I would not be surprised to see Bama go after both Cooper and DGB.

Re: What's the latest on Dorial-Green Beckham?

If UA's staff hears that DGB wants to commit to them but is worried about too many WR recruits in this class I believe they would get rid of a commitment to get him, he's that important to an offense. That won't happen though b/c I think DGB knows that he could start at just about any college next year. I do hope that UA's staff doesn't get comfortable with the WRs we've landed even if we get Cooper b/c DGB is the crown jewel of this recruiting season for a reason. Plus, you know our UA staff doesn't get comfortable in recruiting anyhow

Re: What's the latest on Dorial-Green Beckham?

I think we should feel just as good about our chances as any other team does. DGB is pretty much silent about everything, and any leaders he "supposedly" has is pure speculation. And I agree with Durden. DGB is probably gonna start at whatever school he chooses, and I don't think any of our current WR commits will scare him off.

Re: What's the latest on Dorial-Green Beckham?

He will be in Fayetteville on Tues watching practice. He'll play in the Hooten's Classic at RRS the Thursday before Arkansas' season opener and stay in town the weekend on an unoffical, and come back again in a few weeks when Springfield plays at Joplin on Friday nite and will come down again.

Re: What's the latest on Dorial-Green Beckham?

With all due respect, Durden, this is the very thing that rival fans beat us to death with on other boards. If we take a commitment, we take a commitment.

Re: What's the latest on Dorial-Green Beckham?

What I don't understand is why is it a bad thing if you decided to pick a recruit over a commitment. A coaches job is to put together the best team he can possibly get. I know that it looks a little shady but how many players decommit to a school. Why can't a school decommit to a player? Not to get off topic to DGB but I would get rid of a current commitment to pick up a JJ type player to better the team overall.

Re: What's the latest on Dorial-Green Beckham?

Why? Because the school has almost all the power in this.

I suspect CNS is straight with his recruits. We're interested, but let's hold off on a commitment until we see what a couple of other kids decide.

But once he takes the commitment, the bond extends both ways. To cut a kid loose because someone better comes along goes beyond shady. It's exploitative and cruel. And, in the long run, it's counter-productive. Don't think parents and high school coaches of future recruits wouldn't notice.

Bama's top recruiting targets have an open spot until they say they are going elsewhere so why would Bama have to decommit a commit to accept a recruit with a scholly offer waiting for them?

You are exactly right. There is no doubt that DGB has a spot waiting.

Saw where he said he has a top 5 but isn't sure he wants to announce them yet.

DGB is about as quiet about his recruitment as he can possibly be. He makes Gunner Kiel look chatty and that is saying something. I think Bama is in good position but I think it will be a long hard row to hoe before it is all said and done with him. It will probably come do to a NSD decision.

Re: What's the latest on Dorial-Green Beckham?

I meant that we should keep an open spot for our top recruits but if we end up with too many recruits and get someone that we didn't expect then what's the damage in telling a commit that we're going a different direction. I don't think that you just drop them completely b/c you saw something in them by taking a commitment but let them know that they might need to look at other places or walk on. If DGB gives UA any chances then I think we would have only 24 commits until he announces no matter what.

UA, AU, Ark, USC, and FSU are his top 5. No OU or Mizzu, which is strange. Also visiting Ark on an unofficial, but when his whole family went with him to AU last month that worries me. Who takes 9 family members with them.
