Nan, I got the exact same score as you and yes, I DO have Confederate ancestors. My wife was born in Guntersville and raised in Huntsville and she says where we live (western Virginia) isn't South. Sadly, I have to agree with her. Used to be, but not anymore. Too many Yankees have moved here.

Be proud of that score. I only scored an 82% Dixie and I am ashamed. I guess all the moving around I've done has begun to dilute my southern dialect.

Only 74% Dixie. Must have been those three years I spent behind enemy lines (lived 3 years in Chicago). At least I don't call a coke (soft drink) a "pop" anymore.

I'll never forget when we came back to Georgia one year for christmas (I was 10) we went on this big camping trip with all my uncles and cousins (15-20 of us). We were all sitting around a campfire one evening and I spoke up and said, "Throw another log on the fire" with that yankee acsent. One of my cousins (my age) looked at me with disdain in his eyes and said, "John L. its lawg, not log". That still gets a few chuckles at family get-togethers.
