I've been seeing it as a net rumor, but it's confirmed in the evening news. If this doesn't confirm their status as the worst fan base, and why they're no longer here, nothing will. They say all this crap about the "tea-bagging," but this is a first, so far as I know...

BTW, for those not in the know, a shot in the leg can be fatal in minutes. If a bullet clips the femoral artery, it could happen on the steps of the ER, and they wouldn't be able to save you. Even in the remote case they could, it would probably cost you your leg...

The man said he was confronted by two men who began to taunt him for being an Alabama fan, and a physical confrontation followed, Phillips said.
One of the suspects pulled out a gun and the Alabama retrieved a weapon from his vehicle. The ‘Bama fan was shot and wounded in both legs before returning fire, Phillips said.

2:30 in the morning, taunting leads to a fight. Someone pulls a gun, the Bama fan goes to his vehicle and gets his gun? Someone pulls a gun, you go to your vehicle and leave. He can thank God that he is still alive to talk about it.

I'm going to go out on a limb and speculate everyone involved had been drinking.

Yes, any gunshot wound can be serious if it happens in the wrong place, even if not in he heart or head. There is no such thing as a "flesh wound", that's only on TV. Thankfully, he seems like he's going to be OK.

But, hey, that's not as bad as what happened at the Krystal after the BCSCG.

He showed some remarkable foolhardiness in retrieving his weapon and returning fire after being shot. I'd be on 911 calling for help rather than having revenge on my mind...

I read it a little differently - I read it that one of the two taunters pulled a gun, then the Alabama fan went to his vehicle to get his gun, then he was shot. Of course the articles are written in such a way that you could also infer that the Alabama fan did not get his gun until after he had already been shot. At any rate, you are correct - when he went to get his gun, he made a bad choice.

Didn't someone we know say "nothing good ever happens after midnight", or words to that effect...?

"Returned fire..."

Edit: See what you mean. It is ambiguous...

Read the comments on the al.com link. Apparently the uncle of the kid that was shot thinks highly of his nephew.

At least someone claiming to be his uncle. I went back and read that and some other comments and suddenly remembered why I avoid reading al.com comments.

Saw the post and went to check out what the "uncle" said. Really ugly people posting on that site.

That's fairly typical of what you'll see on that website. It quickly turns into a bunch of racist idiotic nonsense.
